Organic fertilizers are the basis of sustainable agriculture and an important resource in plant nutrition as well. The research was conducted out in the greenhouse conditions of the Dicle University Faculty of Agriculture, Diyarbakır, Turkey in 2020. The effects of 14 different organic fertilizers on grain yield, yield components, morphology and physiology properties of bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L) were examined. It was found that sheep manure (3,56 g/plant) among - used fertilizers have a greater effect on both the growth and yield components of wheat in comparison with other organic fertilizers. The grain yield and biomass yield obtained from sheep manure among organic fertilizers have been determined to be competitive with commercial fertilizers. It was revealed that certain organic fertilizers had no effect on grain yield or biomass yield as compared to the control level of no fertilizers. According to the research results, it would be appropriate to use chicken and sheep manure in order to obtain an optimal wheat yield in the organic farming system.
Drought is one of the environmental stress factors and the most important factor limiting crop production, especially in rain-based agricultural areas. This research aimed to determine the effects of drought stress on some bread wheat genotypes and to determine drought tolerant genotypes among genotypes. In the research, 20 bread wheat genotypes were used as material. The experiment was carried out in fully controlled greenhouses belonging to the Faculty of Agriculture of Dicle University in 2022 according to the randomized blocks trial design with 4 replications. An artificial drought stress environment was constituted by irrigating the pots up to 40% of the field capacity. As a result of the research, as the plants belonging to five genotypes lost their vitality as a consequence of the drought effect, observations could not be taken and they were not subjected to statistical analysis. Among the investigated characteristics, the chlorophyll content (SPAD) value in the spiking stage, the chlorophyll content (SPAD) value in the flowering stage, the number of days spike, and the plant height were affected by the drought application at the level of 1%, while the spike height and the number of grains per spike were affected at the 5% level. It is noteworthy that line 6, which is the prominent genotype among the genotypes in terms of spike yield, is also the earliest, has the longest plant height, and is the genotype with the highest number of grains per spike.
Today, the most important factor limiting wheat production and productivity is drought. In order to increase wheat production, it has become imperative for plant breeders to develop varieties that are suitable for the growing conditions of the region, resistant to drought, and have high adaptability. In the study, it was aimed to evaluate the agronomic performances of some bread wheat genotypes in Diyarbakır conditions and to determine the genotypes with high yield for the region by the GGE Biplot analysis method. The study was carried out under rain-fed conditions in the experiment area of the Faculty of Agriculture of Dicle University in the 2018/2019 wheat-growing season. In the study, 36 advanced bread wheat lines obtained from the International Corn and Wheat Development Center (CIMMYT) and Empire, Pehlivan check varieties were used as material.Due to the late establishment of the study, the effect of partial drought and heat stress experienced in terms of precipitation in the growing season negatively affected yield and yield items. The highest grain yield was obtained from ZT-18, ZT-19, and ZT-11 genotypes and 19 genotypes were able to exceed the average yield. According to the "which-where-won" model of the GGE biplot analysis, ZT-18 and ZT-19 genotypes were determined as the most suitable genotypes in terms of BU, BBS, BTS, BTA, and TV traits since they were clustered in a single Mega Environment and a micro sector.
