The Malaysian Government has acquired a large shareholding in several Malaysian companies to meet national aspirations, social concerns and global challenges. Known as 'Government-Linked Companies' or GLCs, have a part in ensuring Malaysia to achieve its ambition of becoming a developed country by the year of 2020. For the GLCs to sustain in the industry it is operated, it has to find ways to optimize the best practices such as in entrepreneurial orientation, strategic improvisation and talent management that can improve its organization competencies, particularly the performance. The sample includes all of the twenty six (26) public listed companies of the GLCs in Malaysia. The study uses a structured questionnaires to collect the data from the firms meeting the criteria of government linked companies or GLCs, the disproportionate sampling technique employed is to choose 5 executives from each company, making a total of 520 respondents. Results showed all hypotheses were supported; therefore, GLCs should ensure the favorable results to give the right priority to the implementation of the best practices in order to improve organizational performance.
PurposeThis study examines the influences of personality traits on the employees' commitment to change that moderated by the organizational culture. The employee's commitment to change is important for the large companies to sustain in the global economy.Design/methodology/approachThe quantitative data were collected from the employees in the large companies that are listed in Bursa Saham Kuala Lumpur (BSKL) Malaysia. The research used a simple random sampling and a cross-sectional survey.FindingsThe results showed there is a relationship between the personality traits and the employees' commitment to change, moderated by the organizational culture.Research limitations/implicationsThis study implies that both practitioners and leaders need to review how they could increase the employees' commitment to change in the companies based on the various personalities.Originality/valueThe originality of the study is the establishment of the instruments and theoretical building on the personality traits, organizational change and employees' commitment to change.
Employees' commitment seems to be vital in decision making for any organizations in order to be able in business competition and to adapt with changes. The commitment among employees can be a crucial tool for improving their performance in organizations. Communication is needed to raise awareness among employees on the need of change as well as creating the readiness to the change whereby it leads to the commitment to change. The objective of this paper is to examine the influence of internal communication on employees' commitment to change. Apparently, this issue likely has attracted the attention among either scholars or researchers. The theoretical contribution has been added in this study by investigating the effect of internal communication in influencing employees' commitment to change. A survey of structured questionnaire was conducted in five-hundred fifty employees in Malaysian large companies. The significant relationship has been found between internal communication and employees' commitment to change through multivariate regression analysis. Moreover, the implications to practice and theory are discussed.
The role of entrepreneurship in the education sector is required in order to achieve innovative institutes through various productive programs. In order to pursue a more developed country, Entrepreneurship Education (EE) is needed to create innovative characteristics and entrepreneurial talents whereby economic growth and employment are stimulated. Unfortunately, the entrepreneurship curriculum was a few to be implemented in South Sumatra. Likewise, this issue caused a lower school culture and also the commitment among the teachers in high school in South Sumatra. This study aims to examine thoroughly the influence of entrepreneurship education towards school culture and organizational commitment in those high schools. This research process involved a quantitative approach, whereby the survey was administered among 314 public school teachers and 329 private school teachers with the use of stratified sampling. A cross-sectional research design was applied, whereby the instruments used are entrepreneurship education, organizational culture, and organizational commitment. Descriptive analysis, correlation, T-test, and multiple regression were used to analyze the data based on the objectives of the study. The results have shown that entrepreneurship education has a significantly positive relationship in school culture and organizational commitment. The positive correlation value illustrates that the higher the entrepreneurship education, the greater the increase in a positive culture that will motivate the commitment of teachers in public and private high schools. The findings of this study can also be used by the Ministry of Education to identify the characteristics required by the entrepreneurship qualities, the influence of organizational culture, and the commitment of the organization as a benchmark for planning a better national education in the future.
