Irrigation is an effort made by humans to irrigate agricultural land. Overall the irrigation system in Indonesia is an irrigation building that starts from a water taking area or a weir and distributes it to various agricultural areas through primary dividing channels to the quarter. This requires supporting infrastructure in the process of extracting / distributing water from water sources to irrigation plots. One of the main irrigation infrastructures is irrigation channels with a means of regulating or measuring the discharge at the upstream such as a water gauge board or manual peilchaal to measure the water level that passes through an irrigation channel. The main objective of this research is to plan a digital water level measuring instrument in the irrigation channel to make it easier for sluice guard officers or farmers to find out the flow rate that passes through an irrigation channel. The data that will be collected are primary data generated from the experimental results by comparing the results from manual and digital. These data are in the form of water level data on the Thomson measuring instrument to find the flow rate through the open channel model. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the validation results obtained from digitization have a very high level of accuracy. The percentage value difference between the value obtained from the manual and digital level meter has an average value of 1-6%. The amount of this percentage is strongly influenced by the decimal digits that have not been compared to those read on the manual level meter. Therefore, in the future, its capacity to read the water level accurately to the nearest digit will be increased.
The service learning in multimedia skills for teenagers and young people as training program for the community was conducted through the expertise of Bachelor Program in Computer Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Kristen Maranatha, for Gereja Kristen Pasundan (GKP) Cideres. The purpose of this training was to equip people with skills or knowledge that can be useful in daily activities. As this training was given during the Covid-19 pandemic, by requirement of health and safety protocols, the service learning was implemented online via the internet in a form of webinar. Online digital activities are increasingly important as conventional physical interactions and communication in work or study environment become unsafe and to be avoided or to be done less often than usual. Unfortunately for most people, technical skills for working or studying online are not yet adequate, especially in multimedia using some recent tools and softwares. So in this program, basic multimedia producing skills using Microsoft Photos (video editing feature) and Microsoft Power Point were introduced. The end result of the training was satisfactory, as those who participate are being able to produce simple digital multimedia presentation using the aforementioned tools and softwares. The training program was held online on November 28th, 2020 via Zoom Meeting Application, and was made possible thanks to the collaboration of Bachelor Program in Computer Engineering with the Directorate of Student and Alumni Affairs, Universitas Kristen Maranatha. Indonesia needs to improve its irrigation system by implementing respectable technology. Recently, Indonesian irrigation systems have intended to switch from analog to digital technology. However, it appeared that Indonesia was having some issues applying digital technology in many areas. For instance, delivering water from water sources to irrigation subversives requires a computer infrastructure. A manual water level monitoring tool has been used in irrigation canals to gauge the water level that flows through them. The major goal of this project is to design a digital measuring device for water level and water temperature in the irrigation channel. The appropriate information must be entered into the irrigation channels. An experimental investigation has been conducted into the accuracy of digital instrument design for detecting water level and water temperature in irrigation channels. The creation of the digital water level measurement design will be tested against manual measurement to determine the percentage difference. The percentage difference between the traditional water level measurement and the digital water level measurement is the anticipated outcome. It is possible to infer that it is crucial to use digital tools, especially when determining the water level in irrigation channels.
