Os tratamentos que apresentaram germinação satisfatória foram ácido sulfúrico e lixa.ABSTRACT: Fruit and seed characterization of forest species is crucial for ideal germination conditions and its use in the re-vegetation of degraded environments.
ABSTRACTWeed infestation is among the problems of greater interference in agriculture, and therefore has awakened the use of management techniques, as the use of solarization and mulching on the ground, that can mitigate this problem. Thus, was objectified with this work to evaluate the management of solarization and soil mulching on weed infestation in cowpea. The experiment was carried in greenhouse under a completely randomized design with eight treatments, such as: soil solarization (with and without) and three dead cover crops (castor bean, crotalaria and spontaneous vegetation + with four replications. The research was conducted in pots with a capacity of 11 dm 3 , filled with eight kg of soil, and the sowing was carried out directly in the pots. At 80 days after sowing, the number and total dry mass of weeds in each experimental unit were determined. During this period, the growth and yield characteristics of cowpea were also evaluated. The number and total dry mass of weeds were higher in the uncovered soil, independent of solarization, and the dry mass was higher in the absence of solarization. This weed infestation reduced the length of the main ...
Water availability is a critical point for dryland recovered on tropical regions of the world. This problem to become higher with the lacking information about the ecophysiologial behavior of the native plants on the initial growth stage under field conditions, mainly when these plants are submitted to different water availability levels. To address this question, we evaluated different water management strategies on the ecophysiological features of the five young native plants establishment in a degraded area located in the Caatinga, a dryland Brazilian forest. The water management strategies effects on native plants were checked by analyzing the photosynthesis rates, gas exchange and photochemistry efficiency in leaves of Crataeva tapia, Erythrina mulungu, Handroanthus impetiginosus, Tabebuia aurea and Ziziphus joazeiro. The experiment had four treatments (waterbox use, bovine manure, hydrogel, bovine manure plus hydrogel) and control. In the initial growth stage and under field conditions, the effects of water stress or water deficiency on the photosynthetic rates, gas exchange and chlorophyll fluorescence a of the T. aurea, H. impetiginosus, C. tapia and E. mulungu, exposed to waterbox and hydrogel, associated or not with bovine manure, were partially or totally mitigated. The Z. joazeiro species has the adaptive intrinsic characteristics that allow them to with stand the most stressful environmental conditions and this naturally allowed presenting greater water use efficiency and absence of damage to the photosynthetic apparatus and high Fv/Fm ratio. In general, the water management strategies studied have alleviated the effects of water stress, totally or partially, on the ecophysiological processes of young native plants under field conditions.
Response of common bean to applied water sheets in relation to crop evapotranspirationAbstract -In Brazil, beans are one of the main staple foods of the population due to high energy potential, standing out in both subsistence production and business agriculture, because it is a crop sensitive to the deficit or excess of water in the soil. The objective of this study was to evaluate the different water sheets applied to the bean crop in relation to crop evapotranspiration. The experiment was conducted in an area belonging to the Federal University of Alagoas/Arapiraca Campus, under field conditions, during the period from August to November 2016, using the cultivar carioca, with plant density of 240 thousand per hectare. Water slides were analyzed according to crop evapotranspiration at five water levels (25, 50, 75, 100, 125%). Leaf area, stem diameter, stem length, number of pods per plant, pod length and pod width were evaluated. The data were submitted to analysis of variance and regression using the F test (p ≤ 0.05) to verify the significance. From the analysis of variance it was verified a significant difference between the treatments in all variables analyzed. Irrigation levels below 100% of crop evapotranspiration negatively affected the analyzed variables, inhibiting growth, with greater intensity in the leaf area and in the number of pods.
Sugarcane is one of the most important crops in the world, but subject to yield losses caused by sporadic droughts during the growing season. To mitigate the effects of drought stress, different strategies have already been used, including the foliar application of glycine betaine (GB). Thus, the present study aimed to evaluate the effect of GB spraying via leaf on gas exchange, chlorophyll fluorescence and on the sugarcane water status subjected to drought stress and rewatering. The experiment was carried out in a greenhouse, using the RB92579 sugarcane variety. A randomized block design was used, in a 3 9 2 factorial scheme, composed of three GB applications (G0-without GB, G1-one application and G2-two applications) and two water treatments: irrigated (Control) and non-irrigated (Drought Stress), with subsequent rewatering. The foliar application of GB minimized the impact of drought stress on gas exchange, on the photochemical efficiency of photosystem II (PSII) and leaf tissue water status in stressed plants. In addition, it favored the energy use in the PSII and reduced photoinhibition, a fact not observed in the G0 stressed plants. Thus, it can be inferred that the GB foliar application mitigates the negative effects of drought stress on gas exchange and photochemical apparatus of PSII in young sugarcane plants.
