Introdução: A COVID-19 é uma infecção respiratória aguda causada pelo coronavírus SARS-CoV-2, potencialmente grave, de elevada transmissibilidade e de distribuição global. Objetivo: analisar o impacto da realização de traqueostomia (TQT) precoce e tardia em pacientes com COVID-19 sobre o tipo de desmame ventilatório e a mortalidade. Metodologia: Este estudo será uma coorte observacional retrospectiva, serão avaliados os pacientes com diagnóstico de COVID-19 internados em uma Unidade de Terapia Intensiva (UTI) de um centro terciário na cidade de Aracaju, SE, no período de novembro de 2020 a julho de 2021. A coleta será guiada por uma ficha de coleta estruturada com variáveis de interesse. O desfecho primário será a mortalidade intra-hospitalar em até 60 dias, a partir da data de realização da TQT, comparada entre pacientes que foram traqueostomizados precocemente daqueles tardiamente. Resultados: No total 197 pacientes foram internados na UTI, porém apenas 72 foram elegíveis para inclusão no estudo. O grupo “TQT precoce” apresentou menor tempo em ventilador, bem como de internação na UTI, porém não foi encontrada diferença entre o tempo da realização do procedimento até a ocorrência do desfecho. Conclusão: Após minuciosa análise dos dados, sugere-se que o processo de internamento hospitalar na UTI e a COVID-19 aumentaram a necessidade do procedimento de traqueostomia, porém o estudo não foi significativo quando comparamos o desfecho de mortalidade no grupo que realizou de forma precoce ou tardia o procedimento.

Introdução: Mesmo frente ao grande número de pacientes que tem uma sobrevida pós alta da Unidade de Terapia Intensiva (UTI), a maioria sobre complicações que afetam sua funcionalidade. Objetivos: Avaliar o perfil funcional do paciente pós alta da unidade de terapia intensiva e identificar os fatores determinantes que influenciam na funcionalidade. Métodos: Estudo longitudinal, observacional e descritivo, tendo uma abordagem quantitativa incluindo pacientes admitidos na UTI de um Hospital Universitário no Estado de Sergipe, no período de aglosto de 2018 a março de 2020. Como instrumento de pesquisa, foi usada a Medida de Independência Funcional (MIF) em três momentos: na admissão hospitalar, para mensuração da independência funcional prévia à internação hospitalar, na admissão na UTI, para mensuração da funcionalidade prévia à internação na UTI; e na alta imediata da UTI. Resultados: A amostra foi composta por 206 pacientes, sendo incluídos 91 participantes. Observou-se uma redução da MIF na admissão na UTI comparada à MIF prévia hospitalar e uma tendência à elevação na alta, porém os valores não retornam ao que foi observado antes da internação hospitalar. Além disso, aqueles pacientes com idade mais avançada e que utilizaram ventilação mecânica por um maior período e com um maior tempo de internação, foram determinantes para a MIF após a alta da UTI. Conclusão: Conclui-se que o processo de hospitalização, especialmente na UTI, de pacientes de idade mais avançada, em uso ventilação mecânica e com um maior tempo de internação, provoca uma redução significativa na funcionalidade.
Este trabalho buscou descrever a taxa de mortalidade hospitalar por insuficiência cardíaca (IC) no estado de Sergipe, de 2010 a 2019. Trata-se de estudo descritivo, de cunho epidemiológico, retrospectivo, com coleta de dados secundários realizada no DATASUS. A mortalidade hospitalar por IC foi avaliada quanto à faixa etária e sexo. Utilizou-se estatística descritiva através de médias, frequência absoluta, frequência relativa e taxa de mortalidade. Observou-se um padrão de redução na taxa de mortalidade ao longo dos anos, em 2010 os valores eram próximos de 9,15 e reduziram para 7,46, totalizando uma redução de 18,46%. Ainda que a população sergipana tenha aumentado 9,96%, ocorreu uma diminuição no número de internação avaliada em 30,54% e, consequentemente, uma queda no número de óbitos com 10,30%. Ao comparar essas taxas, de acordo com o sexo, ressalta-se que valores superiores de mortalidade por ano ocorrem com mais frequência na população masculina do que na feminina, com média de 7,98 e 7,42 respectivamente. Em proporções semelhantes houve aumento na população masculina de 9,03% e de feminina 10,85%, no entanto, a redução na mortalidade feminina foi de 29,32% e 5,20% na masculina. Observou-se relativos aumentos nos índices de mortalidade nas faixas etárias a partir de 60 anos, com padrão maior de mortes ao avançar da idade. Sendo a Insuficiência Cardíaca é uma enfermidade de alta morbimortalidade, com este estudo, sugere-se uma tendência de diminuição na taxa de mortalidade hospitalar por IC em Sergipe.
