Bite-sized learning works in synergy with microlearning. It promotes small activities and content to understand the materials in a sequence of ways with meaningful information. Telegram, one social media, can be used as an online learning platform. Bite-sized learning encourages Telegram features in providing simple and fun activities comprehensively. Teachers shared knowledge and skills, organized teaching activities, and helped students practice through teacher talks, either in organizing a classroom or achieving the teaching goals. Since this study explored how bite-sized learning and teacher talk on Telegram in L2 Listening class, this study used a qualitative approach with a case study. The result revealed how well the teacher communicates with the students during online learning in giving instruction, sharing ideas and knowledge, stimulating students to respond to the teacher and material, cultivating students’ intellectual ability, and managing classroom activities. Furthermore, those activities need to be more noticed, extra patience and energy, a more creative in delivering instruction and materials to initiate and stimulate students to respond and engage in the class. These study results imply that during online learning, the teacher talk and bite-sized learning need to be implemented and improved well and creatively to promote students’ understanding, interaction and engagement.
The study aimed to enhance students` understanding of the morphology material through intriguing games. We conducted this research on the students at Tadris Bahasa Inggris IAIN Madura in 2019/2020 with 37 students. This report used the design of classroom action research (CAR) with interviews, observation, and questionnaires as the instrument to gain the data. We carried the CAR out based on Kurt. L style, they are planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. Throughout this report, the researchers carried out collaborative action research. The study results showed the average score of the pre-test is 58.8%, and the post-test score reached up to 74.1% by 29 students of 37 students who pass the completeness (reached for minimum score) in cycle I. For cycle II, it reached up to 81.1% or raised gradually from 19% to 26%, 35 students from 37 who pass the completeness in cycle II. Besides, convincingly, implementing an intriguing game can make the students interested in learning, easy to understand, motivated to study more, and become competitive.
Following the trend of ICT in teaching and learning English, many higher education institutions have an intention to lead the students into a digital environment by using Edmodo as an online platform. This study investigates ESP (English for Specific Purposes) students’ experiences and challenges in using Edmodo. The data from this study were collected using questionnaires shared with 120 students and focus group discussions volunteered by ten students. The study revealed that the students frequently used Edmodo to help their academic achievement (x̄=3.63). They also regularly felt comfortable using Edmodo as their learning circumstances (x̄=3.61), and they occasionally had a problem using Edmodo (x̄=3.14). The focus group interview discovered that the use of Edmodo can motivate them to learn English since it is an effective tool that can be accessed everywhere and anytime, especially for doing assignments and quizzes, communicating with one another, and collaborating with students from other schools or countries. Moreover, although they did not find any difficulties using Edmodo, they were worried about answering the questions in quizzes and assignments because they might make typos, incomplete sentences, or incorrect answers. Importantly, the result can be expanded into online learning circumstances to a new standpoint that can efficiently manage virtual activities in learning English using Edmodo. For further work, it is recommended to investigate the students’ experiences and challenges of other e-learning platforms and their impact and motivation for the student's academic performances.
