This paper presents an analysis of the geochemistry of superficial waters in the Itacolomi ResumoEsse trabalho apresenta uma avaliação geoquímica das águas superficiais do Parque Estadual do Itacolomi, relacionando-a com os cenários geológicos e com a geoquímica dos solos. Evaluation of TOPMODEL for prediction of the runoff of a watershed under different land uses A B S T R A C TThe applicability of TOPMODEL hydrologic model to predict the runoff hydrographs originated from isolated rainfall events over a small watershed under conservationist management practices was evaluated. Geographical, hydrological and soil data from the watershed were used associated to streamflow hydrographs and rainfall events measured between 2009 and 2012. TOPMODEL mainly underestimated runoff peak flow and runoff amount. However, it was observed that TOPMODEL is promising for the estimation of runoff hydrograph originated from isolated rainfall events at the studied small watershed under conservationist management practices. SELF -PURIFICATION OF WATER BODIES AbstractThe protection of water resources involves monitoring and evaluating their quality along the rivers setting goals and controlling discharges of pollutants looking for to keep an acceptable level of water quality. The understanding of self-purification of water bodies constitutes a basic element for the adoption of these measures and actions. So this review objective to report some of the most important processes of the selfpurification phenomenon focusing on the biological processes, which are the main inducer of ecological changes and balance reinstatement in the aquatic environment.Keywords. Self -Purification, organic matter, pollution.
ABSTRACTThe purpose of this study was to investigate the mineralogy and geochemistry contents of soils from the Itacolomi State Park, in Ouro Preto (MG), and their relationship to the geological scenario. The samples were collected at six depths (0-10, 10-20, 20-30, 30-40, 40-50 e 50-60 cm) in representative areas from the different lithologies. The chemical elements were determined by ICP-OES and the soil mineralogy determination was performed by X-rays diffraction. The results of the analisys show the geology influence under the soil features. The chemical elements from the soils were compared with standard values defined by the rule CETESB (2005) proving the geological influences on the soil quality. Outliers for several elements were detected in soils. These outliers can be related the lithology indicating natural concentrations because the explored area is a preservation unit without anthropogenic interference.
