Dolmabahce Palace known as the last palace of the empire bears traces of western lifestyle both in terms of architecture and objects used in it. Within that period, the mentality of reform became spread into the enviroment not only spatially but from the state order to the daily life. Sultan Abdulaziz (1830-1876) one of the sons of Mahmud II (1785-1839), continued to live in Dolmabahce Palace after Sultan Abulmejid (1823-1861). In this article, our aim is to take the children of Sultan Abdulaziz to the center and to talk about their lives in Dolmabahce Palace and to understand what kind of space was opened for a child in the palace. For that aim, the preparations and ceremonies such as velâdet-i hümâyûn and sûr-ı hıtan whose subjects were children were examined. Then, the space opened for the child in the palace in terms of material culture was focused on. The article extends to the lives of children of palace, from materials prepared for the children at the birth, to the objects and toys used in their daily life.
Osmanlı saray mutfağı geleneksel tatların ve farklı kültürel unsurların birleşimiyle
ortaya çıkan seçkin lezzetleri barındırır. Siyasi, ekonomik, sosyal ve kültürel süreç imparatorluğun
mutfağına yansımıştır. İstanbul’un Avrupa ile artan ticari ve ekonomik ilişkileri
şehre gelen gıda malzemelerini farklılaştırmıştır. 19. yüzyılla birlikte, Tanzimat’ın
getirdikleri arasında mutfağın da Batılılaştığı görülmektedir. 19. yüzyıl boyunca Osmanlı
Saray mutfak kültürü, alaturka ve alafranga ikilemi yansıtan unsurlara sahip olmuştur.
Özellikle sofra düzeninde ve adabında Avrupa kültürünün etkisiyle yenilikler ortaya çıkmıştır.
Saray teşrifatından yemek araç gereçlerine kullanılan ürünlere bir çeşitlenme söz
konusu olmuştur. 19. yüzyılın ikinci yarısı itibariyle Osmanlı sarayının yabancı konukları
sadece geleneksel Osmanlı mutfağı ile değil, Fransız mutfağının lezzetleriyle ağırlanmıştır.
Yazımızda, son Veliaht Abdülmecid Efendi’nin mutfağı özelinde saray mutfağı değerlendirilmiştir.
1918-1922 yılları arasında Veliaht Dairesi’ne sipariş edilen gıdaların yanı
sıra Abdülmecid Efendi’nin sofrasına davet edilenler ortaya çıkarılırken aslında onun muhiti üzerinde durulmuştur. Son dönem Osmanlı mutfak kültüründe veliaht mutfağının
nerede yer aldığı tartışılmıştır.
Bilgi, Osmanlı toplumu içerisinde vakıflar tarafından cami, medrese ve kütüphane
vasıtasıyla aktarılmıştır. Yüzyıllar boyu topluma ve eğitim-öğretim kurumlarına
hizmet eden kütüphaneler, Tanzimat sonrasında ise dönemin şartlarına uygun faaliyet
göstermişlerdir. Abdülmecid Efendi Kütüphanesi: Son Halife Abdülmecid Efendi’nin
Entelektüel Hayatının Simge Mekânı isimli yazımızda amacımız, Halife Abdülmecid
Efendi’nin kütüphanesini onun muhitiyle birlikte analiz etmektir. Bu bakış açısıyla
Abdülmecid Efendi’nin okuma merakı, kitaba olan ilgisi ve kütüphanesindeki
koleksiyonlar üzerinde durulacaktır. Şahsına hediye edilen eserlerin ithaf yazılarında,
Abdülmecid Efendi’nin sanatçı kimliğine vurgu yapan ifadelere de rastlamak
mümkündür. Abdülmecid Efendi’nin entelektüel kimliği için bir simge olarak
nitelendireceğimiz kütüphanesindeki kitaplar, çok çeşitli konu başlıklarından
oluşmaktadır. Kütüphanesindeki çok katmanlı kitap koleksiyonu, farklı dillerden ve
konulardan müteşekkildir. Bu konu çeşitliliğini, Abdülmecid Efendi’nin çok yönlü ve
gelişmeye açık profiliyle ilişkilendirebiliriz.
