O conhecimento do meio físico é premissa básica para a compreensão das relações ambientais e para o ordenamento e planejamento do uso do solo em bacias hidrográficas. O Zoneamento Ambiental e Produtivo de bacias hidrográficas tem sido usado oficialmente em Minas Gerais, como instrumento de elaboração e acompanhamento de planos de adequação socioeconômica e ambiental. É composto das etapas de diagnóstico da disponibilidade hídrica, de levantamento do uso e de ocupação do solo e da definição de unidades de paisagem. No procedimento atual, as unidades de paisagem são delimitadas manualmente, exigindo conhecimento e experiência do técnico e deixando margem para interpretações subjetivas e para baixa reprodutibilidade. Assim, este trabalho teve como objetivo apresentar os critérios de ponderação de um método alternativo às unidades de paisagem, o mapeamento do Potencial de Uso Conservacionista (PUC). Este foi construído a partir dos componentes (1) solo, (2) litologia e (3) declividade que, respectivamente, foram ranqueados em função da (1) drenagem, fertilidade, textura e profundidade efetiva; (2) composição química e mineralógica e susceptibilidade à denudação; (3) critério da aptidão agrícola. Os pesos finais obtidos para os componentes do potencial de uso apresentaram valores coerentes com as observações empíricas do uso efetivo do solo no estado de Minas Gerais, indicando que o método pode ser usado como alternativa viável.
RESUMOA água é um recurso natural essencial ao desenvolvimento humano e às suas atividades. Contudo, a sua disponibilidade tem sido amplamente discutida em vários países do mundo, sobretudo no Brasil. A escassez deste recurso, associada à elevada degradação dos cursos d'água e a grande demanda para os usos múltiplos, tem levado à cenários de conflitos pelo uso da água, em locais onde sua disponibilidade é inferior à demanda. Objetivou-se avaliar e espacializar a disponibilidade hídrica da Bacia Hidrográfica do Rio Manso, MG. A execução da metodologia compreendeu quatro etapas principais: (i) obtenção dos dados; (ii) processamento dos dados de outorga de usuário; (II) exportação das bases de dados para ambiente SIG; (iv) cálculo da demanda hídrica e espacialização da disponibilidade. Foram identificados na bacia 215 pontos de captação de água superficial com processos de outorga vigentes. Estes representam uma demanda de 0,1831 m³/s associada a 15 usos distintos, sendo os principais: irrigação, consumo humano, dessedentação de animais, aquicultura, mineração e lavagem de veículos. Embora a maior parte do curso d'água esteja em estado de disponibilidade hídrica, alguns pontos apresentaram-se em estado de atenção, apontando a necessidade de uma análise integrada a bacia, de forma a garantir a sua sustentabilidade.
