Introdução: As doenças cardiovasculares representam a principal causa de morte entre os pacientes com transtorno afetivo bipolar, os quais apresentam uma elevada prevalência de fatores de risco cardiovascular tradicionais, como diabetes, dislipidemia, hipertensão, tabagismo e obesidade, em comparação com a população geral. Objetivo: O presente estudo tem por objetivo identificar as taxas de investigação de fatores de risco cardiovascular modificáveis numa amostra de pacientes portadores de transtorno afetivo bipolar atendidos na rede de saúde pública de Curitiba. Método: A amostra constitui-se de quarenta pacientes que foram admitidos na Unidade de Estabilização Psiquiátrica entre setembro de 2020 e fevereiro de 2021, com o diagnóstico de transtorno afetivo bipolar. Trata-se de um estudo transversal retrospectivo, através de revisão de prontuário. Resultado: Os dois fatores de risco cardiovascular menos investigados na população estudada foram inatividade física e obesidade, avaliados em 5% e 27,5% da amostra estudada, respectivamente. Dislipidemia foi investigada em 42,5% dos pacientes, diabetes mellitus em 62,5% e tabagismo em 70% dos pacientes. Doença renal crônica e hipertensão arterial sistêmica foram os fatores mais investigados, em 92,5% e 72,5% dos casos, respectivamente. Conclusão: Este estudo conclui que alguns fatores de risco cardiovascular são pouco investigados em indivíduos com transtorno afetivo bipolar, destacando-se a inatividade física, a obesidade e a dislipidemia, demonstrando que integrar a abordagem de condições psiquiátricas com a de condições médicas gerais é ainda um desafio na prática clínica.
