RESUMO: O artigo visa analisar as identidades atribuídas aos atores sociais participantes do Movimento Passe Livre no Brasil; e investigar como eles são categorizados pelo discurso noticioso. Fundamentamo-nos no argumento de que as categorias são marcadas por uma "instabilidade constitutiva", ou seja, transformam-se a partir dos contextos (MONDADA;DUBOIS, 2003). Sobre o tema contexto, baseamo-nos nos pressupostos da Sociocognição. Isso proporciona que haja uma interface cognitiva entre categorização e construção de identidades. Analisamos notícias de divulgação on-line sobre o Movimento Passe Livre. Percebemos que, mesmo que haja uma mudança na categorização atribuída aos atores sociais do movimento, as categorias nominadas pelo discurso das notícias possibilitaram uma maior visibilidade social de imagens negativas desses grupos. O contexto foi considerado, nesses termos, como um dos elementos chave para que as categorizações e atribuições identitárias ocorressem. PALAVRAS-CHAVE: Categorização. Identidade social. RESUMEN: El artículo tiene como objetivo analizar las identidades asignadas a los actores sociales participantes del Movimiento Pase Libre del Brasil; e investigar cómo ellos son categorizados por el discurso de prensa. Nos fundamentamos en el argumento de que las categorías están marcadas por una "inestabilidad constitutiva", es decir, se transforman a partir de los contextos (MONDADA;DUBOIS, 2003). Para el tema contexto, nos basamos en los supuestos de la Sociocognición. Esto proporciona que haya una interfaz cognitiva entre categorización y construcción de identidades.
