This paper presents a comparative analysis involving several fault diagnosis methods for voltage source inverter in variable speed drives with induction motors. The purpose of using the diagnostic techniques can help to avoid unplanned standstill, to make possible to run an emergency operation in case of a fault or keep the time to repair short in case o f a fault. Therefore the fault detection time is a very important parameter to take into account in order to avoid a degradation of the system. In this sense, this paper present the method calIed "actuator as sensor" applied to the power transistor open circuit fault. A comparison with the traditional techniques is also presented.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
