Ionenaustausch kann mit Ionen, die im Verhältnis zur Maschenweite des Austauschers zu gross sind, nicht stattfinden. Diese Erscheinung kann zur raschen Ionentrennung verwendet werden. Die selektive Adsorption aus polymerhomologen Elektrolytgemischen wird in Abhängigkeit von der Ionengrösse und vom Quellungsgrad des Ionenaustauschers diskutiert.
Volumen xxxv, Fasciculus VII (1952) -No. 292-293. 2363 45 Std. bei 30° unter Riihren gehalten, dann kalt abgesaugt, mit Benzol nachgewaschen und getrocknet. Es wurde die Zusammensetzung, Löslichkeit und Quellbarkeit von Calciumpektinaten verschiedenen Veresterungsgrades untersucht. Ihre Eigenschaften sind bei Annahme von „Calciumbrücken”︁ zwischen Carboxylgruppen benachbarter Fadenmolekeln nicht verständlich. Es wird darauf hingewiesen, dass allgemein bei Gelen von Polyelektrolyten fixierte Salzbindungen zwischen den Molekeln theoretisch und experimentell nicht begründet sind.
Carboxylgruppenhaltige Ionenaustauscher wurden durch Polymerisation von Acrylsäure bzw. Vernetzung von Pektinsäure mit Formaldehyd synthetisiert. Die Ladung der Austauscher wurde durch Herstellung verschieden veresterter Präparate variiert. Dabei wurde die alkalische Verseifung von Polygalakturonsäure‐methylester eingehender untersucht.
Die Selektivität der Austauscher ist von ihrer Ladungsdichte abhängig. Ferner zeigt sich ein großer Unterschied in der Selektivität von vernetzten Polyacrylsäuren und Pektinsäuren bei gleichen Austauschkapazitäten.
Weiterhin wurde der Kontaktaustausch zwischen Amberlite IRC‐50 und löslichen, unvernetzten Polyelektrolyten (Polyacrylsäuren und Pektinsäuren) verschiedener Ladungsdichte untersucht. Es zeigt sich, daß die Ladungsdichte des Polyanions ebenfalls den Ionenaustausch beeinflußt.
