In this study, mechanical properties of Very-Rapid Hardening Polymer (VRHP) mortar were investigated. To do it, 75 VRHP mortar specimens were tested by the compressive test, bending test, bonding test, freezing and thawing test, length variation test, and water absorption test. From the test results, it was confirmed that the bond strength of VRHP was higher than that of normal concrete by 50 %, and the resistance of freezing and thawing of VRHP was more excellent than normal concrete. In addition, length variation ratio and water absorption ratio of VRHP were smaller than those of normal concrete by 20 %. Therefore, It should be mentioned that VRHP can be successfully used as the material for repairing the crack of concrete structure.
Anchor heads a recommonly exposed to surface weathering processes that cause physical damage by vibration and external forces. This study presents a new method of anchor-head installation that uses near-surface embedding based on analyses of concrete block failure. ABAQUS 3D numerical modeling performed to compare this method with the standard technique and to analyze the distribution of displacement and the stress pattern. In addition, application of the method to a real-world case was tested by in-situ measurements. The results show a maximum vertical stress of 9.73 MPa and vertical displacement of 1.34 mm. Field tests indicated that displacement of a concrete block was 3 to 4 times greater than that of an embedded bearing plate.
Soft ground stabilization is needed to construct large civil facilities on the soft clay ground. Pre-loading method, which is accelerating consolidation method, is generally used to stabilize the soft ground. However, pre-loading method is required long construction period and quantities of fill material. Therefore, electro-osmosis method is used to replace pre-loading method for stabilizing the soft ground. Electro-osmosis method is disadvantageous in constructive and economic aspects because it is needed a metallic electrode. So, in order to solve the those disadvantages, plastic electrode was developed to replace metallic electrode. Plastic electrode, which is made by using nano-technology on existing Plastic Drain Board (PDB), was used to supply the electric power. In this study, therefore, the model test was conducted to confirm the effect of improvement and electrical characteristics of soft ground by spacing of plastic electrode. The result shows that the effect of improvement of soft ground was decreased up to 45% by increasing electrode spacing and electrical characteristics on the soft ground were influenced by consolidation settlement with electrode spacing.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
