Probolinggo is the one of cities in East Java that has many cultural heritages, especially in colonial architectural. There are many colonial architectural heritages in Probolinggo, especially in the center of city Heerenstraat area (Jalan Suroyo). This study aimed to determine the style, past and present functions, and the efforts in preserving colonial architectural in Heerenstraat Probolinggo. There are five places were used as objects of study, they are basecamp of Kodim 0820, Museum of Probolinggo, GPIB "Immanuel Church", Alun-alun or city center, and Probolinggo Train Station. Nowadays, each of these objects is still functioning and has a unique arsitectural style that representing the developed architectural in Probolinggo. This study used architectural, functional, and conservation theories. Furthermore, the stylistic, contextual, and architectural analysis method were applied in this study. The results of this study are knowing about the architectural style, the functions from the past and present of each research object, and the efforts in preserving colonial architectural that have been done and need to be done.
This article discusses the impact of site selection on the architecture of the Karang Bolong Fort. Data collection was done by using observation, interviews, and literature studies techniques. The research uses the analysis techniques of the outside of the buildings and qualitative analysis. The supporting theory used is the theory of landscape architecture. The results of this study provide an overview of site selection of Karang Bolong Fortress which affect the architecture form of the fort. Seeing the location, the Dutch East Indies government chose to adapt the Napoleon Tower model with some adjustments in the function and number of rooms. The architectural shape of the defense tower was chosen because it is in accordance with the function of Karang Bolong Fort as a defensive fortress on the east coast of Nusakambangan Island.
Karangturi Village is one of the villages located in Lasem District, Rembang Regency, Central Java Province. This village has a number of potential archaeological resources. Archaeological resources owned include places of worship, residences, production buildings, tombs, and so on. This study aims to determine the management of archaeological resources in Karangturi Village. This study uses qualitative methods with supporting data such as observations and literature studies. The result of this research is a descriptive analysis using Heritage Urban Landscape. The Heritage Urban Landscape approach includes seven approaches, namely (1) Review of City Resources – Natural, Cultural, and Human; (2) Review of Participatory Planning, Stakeholders, and Targets Preservation Actions; (3) Analysis of Cultural Conservation Vulnerability in the Social, Economy and Climate Sector; (4)Integrating Cultural Heritage Values Cities with Vulnerable Status into City Development Framework; (5) Priority Policies, Conservation and Development Actions, and Public Services; (6) Defining Stakeholders with a Management Framework; (7) Developing Coordination Mechanisms and Inter-Stakeholder Activities.
