In this paper, we propose an efficient scheme for side peak cancelation in binary offset carrier (m,n) (BOC(m,n)) with integer modulation order. The proposed scheme reduces significantly the width of the main peak of the auto-correlation function (ACF) and thus the range of influence of the multipath (MP) in BOC-modulated signals. It is based on the use of reference ACFs like that of ideal pseudo random noise (PRN) code generated by linear feedback shift register (LFSR) and used in global positioning system (GPS) and the Russian Globalnaya Navigatsionnaya Sputnikovaya Sistema (GLONASS). In MP environment, the proposed method is used in combination with fast iterative maximum likelihood algorithm (FIMLA) that is adapted to future modernized GPS and Galileo signals. As a result, the obtained ACF of the proposed scheme does not contain any side peaks, and thus, the discriminator function (DF) has no ambiguity in the delay-locked loop (DLL) code tracking operation. The simulation results show that the proposed technique has superior performances in MP mitigation and permits the same resistance to noise compared to the traditional techniques.

We propose an efficient method for the detection of Line of Sight (LOS) and Multipath (MP) signals in global navigation satellite systems (GNSSs) which is based on the use of virtual MP mitigation (VMM) technique. By using the proposed method, the MP signals' delay and coefficient amplitudes can be efficiently estimated. According to the computer simulation results, it is obvious that our proposed method is a solution for obtaining high performance in the estimation and mitigation of MP signals and thus it results in a high accuracy in GNSS positioning.

In this paper, we propose efficient signal waveforms (WFs) with optimized spectrum for multipath (MP) mitigation and jamming reduction in global navigation satellite system. These WFs are based on the use of sine-phased binary offset carrier (BOC) with adjustable width (BOC-AW). They are generated by adjusting the width of the three-level WF {−1, 0, 1}. By exploiting the three-level BOC-AW subcarriers in sine-phasing signal model, we developed several forms of BOC-AW by means of superposition and width adjustment. The resulting power spectral densities and autocorrelation functions of the proposed WFs were calculated and introduced. Also calculated were the spectral separation coefficients (SSCs) and the Cramér-Rao lower bounds (CRLBs). The SSCs and CRLBs prove the efficiency of the proposed WFs in terms of interference separation. In addition, the simulation results show that the proposed WFs present better performances in MP mitigation compared to the WFs adopted by the Galileo and global positioning system modernization.

We propose an efficient scheme for side peaks cancelation and multipath (MP) mitigation in binary offset carrier (n,n) (BOC(n,n)) and multiplexed BOC (MBOC) modulated signals. The proposed scheme reduces significantly the band of variation of MP errors in global navigation satellite system (GNSS). It consists of two versions. The first one is based on the use of maximum likelihood estimator (MLE) of MP signals and reference correlation functions (CFs) like that of pseudorandom noise (PRN) code without BOC subcarrier. In the second version, the former (MLE) is used with the reference BOC(n,n) or MBOC CFs. Unlike traditional BOC(n,n) and MBOC, that have CFs containing multiple peaks leading to potential tracking ambiguities, our proposed scheme does not contain any side peaks. In addition, all the MP signals with medium and long delays have no effect on the estimation of the pseudorange. On the other hand, all the methods proposed for mitigating MP in no-BOC scheme are practical for our scheme due to its CF which is similar to that of the PRN code. The computer simulation results show that the proposed scheme has superior performances in the reduction of the errors produced in the process of the delay estimation of line of sight (LOS) and caused by MP propagation. In fact, the performances of the proposed scheme are better with regard to that of the traditional BOC(n,n) and MBOC. Moreover, in the presence of noise, our proposed scheme keeps better performances than the common side peaks cancelation methods.

In this study, the authors propose a new method that eliminates ambiguity in global navigation satellite system (GNSS) code acquisition and tracking significantly. It is based on the use of a specified locally generated (SLG) pseudo‐random noise code that can be correlated with any received binary offset carrier sine‐ or cosine‐modulated signal. As a result, the correlation function (CF) together with its discriminator function (DF) at the delay locked loop (DLL) output, determined within a tracking region of (−1, 1) chips, are unambiguous and narrow, providing thus better positioning accuracy. On the other hand, the SLG‐based methods CF and DF are such as those of high‐resolution correlator and Strobe correlator, initially proposed for multipath mitigation in classical binary phase shift keying‐modulated code. In addition, their proposed SLG‐based scheme is valid for any value of the early–late chip spacing in the DLL‐DF. The computer simulation results show that the proposed scheme is unambiguous for DLL code‐tracking operation and has superior performance in the estimation of the delay of line of sight signal in GNSS applications.
