Background: Insomnia is a common sleep disorder with symptoms including difficulty falling asleep and early awakening. Guipi decoction is widely used in clinical treatment of insomnia in China. However, there is a lack of systematic evaluation and analysis of Guipi decoction. Therefore, our study will provide efficacy assessments and adverse events assessments. Methods: A comprehensive search for randomized controlled trials of Gupi decoction treatments for insomnia will be carried in MEDLINE, EMBASE, the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trial (CENTRAL), CINAHL, AMED and Chinese databases include CBM, CNKI, CQVIP, and Wanfang from their inceptions to May 2020. Relevant reference lists, Baidu Scholar and grey literature will also be checked. Two experienced reviewers will independently search all databases. Primary outcomes include Pittsburgh sleep quality index and clinical effective rate, and secondary outcomes include traditional Chinese medicine syndrome, adverse events, and Epworth Sleepiness Scale. Review Manager 5.3 software will be used analyze all data. Results: This article will be dedicated to assessing the efficacy and safety of Guipi decoction for insomnia. Conclusion: The conclusion of this systematic review will provide evidence to judge whether Guipi Decoction is an effective therapeutic intervention for patient with insomnia. Maybe these results could potentially be helpful for improving the therapeutic strategy of patients with insomnia. PROSPERO registration number: CRD 42020164911.
The protective effect of the polysaccharides on ethylene glycol induced kidney impairment has been explored. Polysaccharides have been extracted from Sargassum graminifolium, which belongs to brown algae. Three different doses of polysaccharides were used for rats with kidney stones by ethylene glycol feeding. Then, urinary biochemistry parameters, renal function factors including blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and serum creatinine (Scr) levels were detected. Besides, interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α) in kidney tissue were elevated, which belong to proinflammatory cytokines. Moreover, kidney histopathological sections were examined. The results illustrated that polysaccharides not only increased calcium level but also decreased oxalate, Scr, and BUN levels. In addition, the levels of IL-6 and TNF-α were reduced. Moreover, renal microscopic analysis showed polysaccharides treatment alleviated observably calcium oxalate deposits in the kidney tissue. The results indicated that the renoprotective mechanism of SGP may be attributed to suppression of inflammation, reducing the growth of urinary stones and improving kidney function in vivo, which explained SGP through multiple ways to protect kidney cells from damaging of hyperoxaluria rats.
Background: Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) is a condition that commonly following anesthesia and surgery, antiemetics can lead to some side effects in treating PONV. Acupuncture PC6(Neiguan) has been widely used in the prevention and treatment of postoperative nausea and vomiting. However, there still exists controversy towards its effectiveness, appropriate, and effective intervention time. We, therefore, design this meta-analysis to assess the effectiveness and confirm the optimal time of acupuncture PC6 point for PONV. Methods: The following electronic databases will be searched from their inception to April 2020, including PubMed, Cochrane Library, EMBASE, Web of Science, WHO International Clinical Trials Registry Platform, Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure, WanFang Database, Chinese Biomedical Literature Database, the Chongqing VIP Chinese Science, and Technology Periodical Database. All randomized controlled trials in English or Chinese involving acupuncture PC6 for patients with PONV will be included. Two reviewers will independently responsible for the data extraction, study selection, risk of bias assessment and assessment of study quality. The primary outcome was the number of postoperative nausea, postoperative vomiting and PONV during 0 to 6 hours and after 6 hours of the postoperatively. The secondary outcome is the number of people with side effects and the use of rescue therapy. The meta-analysis will be conducted using RevMan V.5.3.5 statistical software. Results: This systematic review will evaluate the efficacy and appropriateness time of acupuncture PC6 in the treatment of PONV. Conclusion: This study will provide high-quality current evidence of the effectiveness and optimal time of acupuncture PC6 point for the patient with PONV. Ethics and dissemination: Ethical approval is not required; this review will not involve individuals’ information.
