“…This may be due to abdominal massage improve defecation through stimulation of parasympathetic nervous system which reducing abdominal muscle tension and relaxing digestive sphincter muscles to promote bowel movements. This finding was in line with Tang et al (2020) (30) who reported that studied patients who received abdominal massage defecated more often compared to patients in the control group. Similarly Mohamed et al (2021) (31) stated that the frequency of defecation significantly increased in study group who received abdominal massage.…”

Hemiplegic limb movements are difficult to coordinate mostly due to a unified balance that cannot be achieved in antagonistic activities of the nervous system between excitement and inhibition after cerebral infarction.…”

“…Abdominal massage with Effleurage technique is a noninvasive intervention that stimulates intestinal peristalsis through abdominal massaging activities applied clockwise over the intestines on the abdominal wall (Turan & Asti, 2016). Based on research by Ying, et al (2020) massage can stimulate and influence the overall function of internal organs and adjust gastrointestinal movements, which can achieve a good effect on the treatment of constipation. Abdominal massage with the Effleurage technique can induce defecation not only through the activation of intestinal stretch receptors but also by restimulating the somatic autonomic system to produce rectal waves.…”
