First Synthesis
The highly complex structure of syndecan-1 heparan sulfate glycopeptide was successfully assembled. The protective groups utilized and sequences for glycosyl linkage formation and protective group removal are critical for the success of synthesis. This is the first time this type of sulfated glycopeptides has been prepared, which lays the foundation to access other members of this important class of molecules.
The enantioselective total synthesis of natural enantiomers of clavilactones A and B has been achieved. A key feature of the synthesis is the use of a ring-opening/ring-closing metathesis, which allows the one-pot transformation of a strained cyclobutenecarboxylate into a γ-butenolide.
Acylation of lanatoside C in the presence of organocatalyst 5 gave the C(4'''')-O-acylate in up to 90% regioselectivity (catalyst-controlled regioselectivity). Various functionalized acyl groups can be introduced at the C(4'''')-OH by a mixed anhydride method in the presence of 5 or the related organocatalyst. On the other hand, DMAP-catalyzed acylation of lanatoside C gave the C(3'''')-O-acylate in up to 97% regioselectivity (substrate-controlled regioselectivity). Thus, diverse regioselective introduction of acyl groups among eight free hydroxy groups of lanatoside C was achieved.
Recently ozone is one of natural hazards which comes from cars, industry using ozone for sterilization of organic and inorganic materials and for water purification. So, ozone sensing becomes very important, and convenient and accurate ozone sensor is required. A new high sensitivity ozone sensing system using an deep ultra-violet light emitting diode (DUV-LED) operated at the wavelength of 280 nm has been successfully constructed. The fabrication of diode operated at 280 nm is much easier than that of DUV-LED operated at Hg lamp wavelength of 254 nm. The system is compact and possible to sense the ozone concentration less than 0.1 ppm with an accuracy of 0.5% easily with low power DUV-LED of around 200 micro Watts operated at 280 nm without any data processing circuit.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
