Dendê Cohort Project: demographic diagnosis and housing conditions of a low income community in Fortaleza, CearáRESUMO Objetivos: Descrever a distribuição espacial e funções dos imóveis, traçar o perfil demográfico e caracterizar a composição familiar na Comunidade do Dendê, em Fortaleza-Ce. Métodos: Fase zero do estudo longitudinal, correspondendo ao censo ou cadastro dos imóveis e da população residente, incluindo georeferenciamento dos imóveis. O cadastro dos imóveis consistiu na caracterização do tipo e dados do endereço. O censo dos moradores incluiu a composição familiar, sexo e idade dos mesmos. Resultados: Após percorrer toda a área de estudo, a localização geográfica de 3.718 imóveis foi determinada e coletados dados de 10.892 moradores da comunidade. Dos imóveis cadastrados, 3.296 (88,7%) são usados exclusivamente para residência. A população cadastrada é composta predominantemente de jovens e dividida de forma semelhante segundo o sexo. A idade média dos residentes é de 26,3 anos, sendo 25,1 anos entre os homens e 27,5 anos entre as mulheres. Um em cada quatro imóveis, em que encontrou-se moradores, tinha mais de um núcleo familiar ou existiam outras pessoas residindo no domicílio, além do núcleo familiar principal. Conclusão: Os imóveis avaliados neste estudo são predominantemente residenciais. A população estudada é eminentemente jovem, existindo uma distribuição semelhante entre os sexos.
