Tschechovs KaStanka als Widergabe des russischen Originals kot side1 na mcitrasike i clelcil vid, Eto spit den folgenden Satz in lakkischer Sprache (Ostkaukasisch, zentraler Daghestan) .Eitu' cild Sanij3 3u'tu bivxunu4 &inc&imunil dullaj bija 'die Katze' tat, nachdem sie sich in3 ihr' Bett3 gelegt hatte', so, als schliefe sie'. Da die Kategorie der Tiere in dieser Sprache das Klassenelement b, das intern zu u wird, verlangt, heisst esDementsprechend lautet der Genitiv des Reflexivpronomens cila 'ihr' gegeniiber masc. cala 'sein' und der des Adjektiv-Partizips auf -mu-r -mu-ni-I, masc. -ma-na-1 am infiniten Verbalnomen auf -i yon dem hier progressiv reduplizierten Stamm inn-&der Wurzel San-'schlafen', von der Scrn-u 'Lager, Matraze, Bett' abgeleitet ist. In d-ull-nj '-mach-end' erscheint vor dem durativen -ullan zum perfektiven -{in 'machen' das Klassenelement d-, das sich auf ein nicht ausgesprochenes, zu subsumierendes Nomen, etwa za ( d ) 'Sache', bezieht; naheres fiihrt dariiber meine demnachst im Verlag Winter, Heidelberg, erscheinende Arbeit iiber das Lakkische (5 12 XIV) aus. Jedermann sieht, dass eine einigermassen genaue Ubertrngung des lakkischen Satzes ins Deutsche, Franziisische oder eine andere europaische Sprache recht unbeholf en sein wiirde; mit den Mitteln des Bnskischen kann man clas aber vortrefflich leisten. Dn miisste man sagen gatucrk' bere' oheon' etzanik' loegiteurena egiten zuen. Die Koinzidenz ist vollkomnien, syntaktisch stimmt alles genau iiberein: nicht nur dns ,,Germdas' der' schlafenden'. Auf beiden Seiten haben wir periphrastisches Verbum nur mit dem Unterschied, dass der Lakke sich intransitiv, der Baske transitiv ausdriickt, namentlich aber wird man woanders diese interessante genitivische Fiigung lakk.4, bask.-(re) n fiir 119 KARL BOUDA diesen Ausdruck 'so tun als ob' nicht leicht wiederfinden, denn man weiss, dass man dazu entweder eigene Verba wie feindre usw. oder andere Konstruktionen wie im Finnischen usw. brauchen muss. Beide Sprachen zeigen also in dieser Hinsicht eine erstaunliche syntaktische Identitiit.In demselbeii Buche finde ich zweimal die lakkische Wendung bu-sa a'urmulij, S. 9 und 88. b u .~ 9urmulij 3ina qtima -qcibitannn 'im ganzen Leben werde ich dich nicht vergessen'. hEaiilccglagrctl *qabuku*sctnija bu*sti a'urinrrlij .?ujnu 1iCan.sija 'wenn der Storch sie nicht gefressen hatte, waren sie (die Frosche) wohl geblieben'. DEurmulij 'im Leben' ist ein Lokativ des bekannten arabischen Lehnworts, das im Lakkischen die notwendige Metathese aus 3mr erfahren hat, da weder diese Sprache noch z. B. das Awarische die Gruppe Labial-Sonore r oder 1 ertragen kann. In b-u-qsa steht vor der Wurzel u-'sein' das von a'urmu 'Leben' geforderte Iilassenelement, nach ihr das adjektivisch-partizipale Suffix -*sa. bu.sa 3EurmuZij heisst also 'in dem Leben, welches ist, im ganzen Leben'.
