A educação ambiental nas escolas é fundamental para formar cidadãos conscientes da importância da conservação ambiental para a sobrevivência humana. Assim, essa pesquisa objetivou avaliar os conteúdos abordados por professores de ciências da natureza sobre a temática meio ambiente nos anos finais do ensino fundamental, em uma região do Estado de Rondônia, que sofre a pressão da degradação ambiental, localizada na Amazônia Sul-Ocidental. Para isso, foi realizado no ano de 2019 a análise dos planejamentos docente utilizando-se a teoria de Bardin (1977) e considerando os temas ambientais presentes nos Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais. Também foram realizadas entrevistas com oito professores de ciências da natureza do Ensino Fundamental II. Os temas água e debates ambientais foram os mais citados nos planejamentos. O 6º ano é a etapa em que os temas de educação ambiental são mais trabalhados. Na entrevista, os docentes responderam ensinar principalmente sobre água, lixo e reciclagem. As queimadas e degradação dos solos, mesmo sendo problemas frequentes na região, foram os menos citados. Os docentes relatam que a educação ambiental deve ser trabalhada extraclasse para melhor compreensão do tema, contudo fatores como falta de tempo, recursos financeiros, material didático apropriado, transporte e logística são barreiras que impedem uma abordagem holística.
A atividade voluntária se tornou ferramenta essencial para a gestão das Áreas Protegidas (AP). Neste cenário, este estudo investiga aspectos que compõem o perfil do voluntariado em Unidades de Conservação brasileiras, a fim de relacionar com estudos realizados em outros países. A partir da abordagem qualitativa e quantitativa, com a aplicação de 86 questionários no ano de 2018 foi identificado que os voluntários são motivados pela conservação da natureza e apreciam atividades como recepção dos visitantes e educação ambiental; preferem os finais de semana, possuem entre 18 a 24 anos e são estudantes. Pontuam a falta de apoio financeiro como o desafio principal para se voluntariar nestas áreas, mas também validam a experiência como muito positiva. Espera-se servir de base para que estudos posteriores continuem a encontrar instrumentos alternativos para garantir a proteção da natureza, manter estes espaços funcionando de maneira eficiente e permanecer atraente para futuros voluntários
