Die Darstellung des Methylenathers des 3.5.5-Tris-hydroxymethyl-dihydrodesoxy-patulinsaurelactons wurde verbessert und dieser uber ein kristallines Diacetat in das 3.5.5-Tris-hydroxymethyl-dihydro-desoxy-patulinsaurelacton iibergefuhrt. Daraus erhielt man zwei Fraktionen C10H1406, von denen wahrscheinlich die niedriger schmelzende (Schmp. 134--135') als das eine der beiden moglichen, durch intramolekulare Wasserstoffbriicken stabilisierten Konstellationsisomeren, die hoher und unscharf schmelzende (Schmp. 136-156") als ein Gemisch beider Konstellationsisomeren des 3.5.5-Tris-hydroxymethyl-dihydro-desoxy-patulinsaurelactons anzusehen ist. -Aus dem Reaktionsgemisch der Umsetzung von Lavulinsaure mit uberschussigem Formaldehyd in Eisessig/Schwefelsaure lieB sich eine ,,neue Verbindung" C10H1406 isolieren, die wahrscheinlich die Konstitution des Methylenathers des P.P.S.G-Tetrakishydroxymethyl-lavulinsaure-y-lactons besitzt. Hiervon wurden einige Derivate hergestellt.Wie kurzlich durch die Synthese der Bisanhydro-ennea-heptose 2) gezeigt wurde, entstehen bei der saurekatalysierten erschopfenden Hydroxymethylierunz von Ketonen, deren Carbonylgruppe von reaktiven Methyl-bzw. Methylengruppen flankiert ist, auch Derivate des 3.7-Dioxa-bicyclo[l.3.3]nonans. Dieser Befund veranlal3te uns, das Reaktionsgemisch aus der Umsetzung von L~vulinsuure mit uberschussigem Formaldehyd in Eisessig/Schwefelsaure, aus dem bisher nur der Methylenather des 3.5.5-Tris-hydroxymethyl-dihydro-desoxy-patulinsaure1actons (XII) isoliert wurde *,3), auf das Vorhandensein von Vertretern der bezcichneten Verbindungsklasse zu untersuchen.Die bei der Reaktion intermediar entstehende, in freier Form unbcstandige 3.5.5-Tris-hydroxymethyl-dihydro-desoxy-patulinsiiure (Ia, b) sollte zur Bildung von zwei la) I.
