There have been significant changes evident across the retail sector over the last 20 years, which have been primarily influenced by technological advancements. These changes have forced many retailers to rethink their business models and utilise a combination of both brick and mortar stores and online domains to present an integrated shopping experience. In order to gain an understanding of how customer satisfaction is increased through omni-channel retailing, we collected data through survey research, specifically through semi-structured interviews and questionnaires. In order to generate concise and accurate findings, the data were analysed using thematic analysis. From this analysis, three themes were generated. The first theme explores the reasoning behind preferred shopping methods and what influences these customers’ purchase methods. The second theme explores customers’ personal preference and investigates the potential of using virtual reality as a method for increasing customer satisfaction. Finally, the third theme looks into utilising interactive technology to create a diversified user experience. This theme explores the potential of utilising a communication platform for customers and also designing a tangible interface for disabled customers. This study has opened up an opportunity for future research and has outlined potential design insights in how to improve customer experience and customer purchase intentions.
As e-commerce continues to grow on a rapid scale, the rise of new technological innovations has come about, such as that of live stream commerce, which has risen rapidly throughout China through the successful case of Taobao Live. Therefore, this research project is focused on live stream retailing as an e-commerce innovation to understand how the key aspects, such as usability, functionality, interaction, and, in general, how its success can be transferred into Western society. A mixed methods approach is taken to collect the crucial data that are needed to understand the current behaviours of British consumers and to understand their preferred methods of shopping and why. This study presents robust recommendations from the collected data, providing strategic insight into the adoption of live stream retailing in the West and incorporating the development of a live stream commerce plug-in prototype that has the potential to be transferred compatibility into any business model.
Over the past few years, the internet and omni-channel domains have created a new economy that is growing rapidly and shifting the way in which businesses operate due to the influence of technological advancements and innovations. Now customers are embracing technology more than ever, user experience is becoming a crucial factor of the customer journey and remaining competitive in any industry is becoming increasingly difficult due to this. These changes have forced many businesses to rethink their presence, whether this is physically or digitally. In order to gain an understanding of how this should be approached, this paper focuses on demonstrating a critical understanding of innovation theories and concepts, which are utilised to enhance value for business. As well as this, web-based technologies and User Experience (UX) principles will be outlined and applied in order to create an online presence for a prototype supermarket, which will be then be reflected upon against PESTLE factors. From this, an innovative strategy will be formulated and evaluated for a new technology-based product/venture.
This paper outlines, utilises and reflects upon effective software design and development through effectively applying current practical solutions such as use case modelling, class and sequence diagrams and by developing a prototype program which reflects the designs from said diagrams. A discussion is presented regarding the best method of approaching the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), justifying the selection and also concluding with a reflection on the professional, ethical and security issues in relation to the proposed design and use of software within the healthcare sector. In regards to ethical considerations, the Code of Ethics was discussed in relation to the design and development of the system and the importance of it alongside ensuring a high level of ethics and professionalism is of utmost priority when handling personal identifiable information in the development of a system. As well as this, security issues during and post development is an area of significant importance when it comes to data management, this has been discussed in general and against the software development life cycle. Additionally, in the design and development of software it is crucial to abide by world software quality standards such as International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO), and this paper reflects upon current issues and how to address these in the process of design and development.
