Correlation and path analysis were carried out in twenty three tomato genotypes for yield characters. The correlation coefficient studies showed that positive association of fruit yield per plant with plant height, number of primary branches per plant, number of fruits per plant, days to last harvest, fruit length, fruit width, average fruit weight, ascorbic acid, total soluble solids and lycopene content. Path coefficient showed that number of fruits per plant, average fruit weight, fruit width, ascorbic acid, total soluble solids and lycopene content had high positive direct effects on fruit yield per plant. Hence, these characters should be given more helpful in selection programme of high yielding genotypes in tomato.
Aim: To study the effect of different mulches on quality and soil parameters on ridge gourd.
Study Design: The experiment was carried out with 7 treatments in Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three replications.
Place and Duration of Study: The research trial was carried out at P.G block, College of Horticulture, Rajendranagar, SKLTSHU, Hyderabad during Kharif, 2021 and summer, 2022.
Results: Among the organic and inorganic mulch treatments, the results reported that the silver- black polyethylene mulch recorded the highest fruit quality, soil analysis and benefit-cost ratio compared to other mulches.
An experiment for standardization of techniques for continuous growth and production in jasminum sambac under different agro climatic conditions of Telangana state was conducted for two consecutive years from 2012 to 2014 at Floricultural Research Station, Hyderabad for the identification of a suitable treatment for continuous growth and production in jasmine. Ten treatments along with control were evaluated and found that, maximum average plant height (113.3 cm), plant spread (134.7 cm), number of flowers/plant (2513.3), weight of flowers/plant (224.3 g), bud width (8.9 mm) and duration of flowering (141.4 days) were recorded in T 1 treatment (Split application of RDF at alternative months) over control (T 10 -Defoliation, pruning and application of RDF once after pruning in December). Minimum number of days taken for 1st bud appearance (20.2) and days to flowering (22.5) were recorded in T 5 treatment -(Defoliation and pruning in December and pinching after new shoots emerge) over control. Maximum bud length was recorded in control.
The investigation was conducted at SKL Telangana State Horticultural University, Rajendranagar in Kharif, 2018 using 23 tomato genotypes. Screening with Ty-1 (P6-6) marker, only one genotype i.e. AVTO-1219 showed resistant band. Screening with Ty-2 marker, only 2 genotypes viz., AVTO-1219 and AVTO-9804 showed resistant bands. Screening with Ty-1 (SSR 47) marker, 3 genotypes i.e. AVTO-1219, AVTO-9803 and AVTO-9804 showed resistant bands. Using Fw-Z 1063 marker, 10 genotypes viz., EC-615055, EC-620428, AVTO-1219, EC-620378, EC-620389, EC-620394, EC-620422, EC-631369, EC-620503 and AVTO-9803 showed resistant bands. At molecular level, these ten genotypes showed resistant bands and these genotypes contain I-2 genes.
