out the l-dependent absorption is shown in Fig. 2 for the bombarding energy 12.0 MeV. %'ith the l-dependence, g' is about 5 and without, about 27. As the bombarding energy is increased, the improvement becomes more pronounced. The statistical-model parameters which determine the incoherent compound-elastic-scattering term are modified by the introduction of the l-dependent absorption, but are still in reasonable agreement with those found by John et al. below 12 MeV. Again the maximum compound-elasticscattering cross section is at a bombarding energy of about 9 MeV. The values and energy dependence of these pa.rameters in the bombarding-energy range 5. 5-12.5 MeV are consistent with the predictions of the Fermi-gas model. 'The authors wish to thank P. scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
