Guillain barre syndrome (GBS) is a rare but fatal autoimmune disease affecting the nervous system. The occurrence of GBS after COVID vaccination is rare and its exact cause is still unknown. Hence, here, we are trying to describe the pattern of GBS following the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination as a case series. The retrospective case series study was carried out by analyzing the serious AEFI (Adverse Events Following Immunization) case notification form reported by health-care professionals to ADR Monitoring Center during the period of March 2021–September 2021.The purpose of these case reports is to ensure proper surveillance methods to monitor the safety of COVID vaccination and to promote further researches which is required to determine the possible link between GBS and COVID-19 vaccination.
Schimke immunoosseous dysplasia is an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia, lymphopenia with defective cellular immunity, and renal insufficiency. It is caused by a biallelic mutation in SMARCAL 1 gene. In this study, we described clinical and genetic diagnosis of a 5 years old girl who presented to our centre with short stature and repeated infections in the past. She had one episode of stroke in the past due to infarction and she was diagnosed with hypertension 1 year back. Last admission in the hospital, she had new stroke episode and found to have steroid resistant nephrotic syndrome.
Here the authors propose a simplified technique and its architecture for blind segmentation of histopathological images of lung cancer, combining the K-Means and Histogram analysis. An improved version of Otsu's algorithm is introduced for performing histogram analysis to determine the number of clusters for executing the automatic segmentation of histopathological images. The architecture is input with Biopsy images of cancer patients suffering from different stages of Lung cancer, procured from standard hospital databases to evaluate the performance. The results obtained are compared with the existing works from the literature showing considerable improvement in the overall efficiency of the image segmentation process. Segmentation output in terms of quantitative parameters like PSNR, SSIM, time of execution, etc., as well as qualitative analysis, clearly reveals the usefulness of this technique in high-speed cytological evaluation. The proposed architecture gives promising results in terms of its performance with a time of execution of 192.25ms.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
