The product of the reaction between C,H,Na and PtC1, is shown by X-ray crystal structure analysis to consist of two n-cyclopentadienylplatinum units joined by a Pt-Pt bond and a bridging 5-cyclopentadienylcyclopentadiene unit.
Salts containing pyMX,-and picMX,-(py = pyridine, pic = ct-picoline) anionshave been prepared forcobalt, nickel, and zinc (X = CI, Br, or I). The spectra, conductivities, and magnetic susceptibilities of the salts have been studied and are in accord with the anions having a pseudo-tetrahedral structure about the metal atoms.
