The long term anticoagulation with warfarin is associated with various bleeding risks which led to the need for newer
drugs. With the developments in the anticoagulation therapy the newer agents like dabigatran, rivaroxaba, apixaban and
edoxaban have gained popularity with their more predictable pharmacological properties and reduced need for drug
monitoring. The United States of America has approved both rivaroxaban and dabigatran to be used in the treatment of
VTE (Venous Thrombo Embolism). In Europe and Canada dabigatran is prescribed after elective hip or knee arthroplasty
to prevent VTE. For a VTE prophylaxis after an orthopediac surgery and to prevent stroke in AF patient, Rivaroxaban is
recommended according to RECORD study. Edoxaban is highly effective in treatment of VTE and acts as a preventive
measure of stroke in NVAF (Nonvalvular Atrial Fibrillation). Through this article various pharmacological aspects,
dosing regimens, bleeding associated risk will be illustrated.
High-dose arabinoside cytarabine is used as an effective regimen for post-remission acute leukemia and refractory leukemia treatment. Most commonly used regimen is 3 g/m 2 IV over 1-3 h q12 h for a total of 8-12 doses. Major toxic effects associated with cytarabine are related to bone marrow, gastrointestinal tract, and nervous system. Acute cerebellar toxicity with ataxia and dysarthria is well-known adverse effect during high-dose cytarabine therapy. This case report describes about a patient with acute myeloid leukemia on high-dose cytarabine who developed ataxia and left-sided nystagmus as cerebellar toxicity. These symptoms persisted till 2 days after the termination of high-dose cytarabine the gradually improved with steroids. Patient's good response to methyl prednisolone illustrates immune-mediated mechanism of neurotoxicity.

Carbamazepine is a commonly used antiseizure medication. Carbamazepine-induced SLE (Systemic Lupus Erythematosus) is a very rare phenomenon. Drug-induced SLE is an autoimmune disease caused by long-term use of certain drugs. Carbamazepine is a drug with low risk for causing lupus symptoms. The process that leads to drug-induced SLE are not entirely understood. A very few cases are reported with carbamazepine association with SLE. Herein we report a case of 4 y old girl with SLE induced by carbamazepine showing a causality score of 8 by Naranjo ADR probability scale.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
