A study of the crystal structure of LiRh was made by combined neutron and X-ray diffraction techniques to determine unambiguously the positions of lithium atoms in the unit cell. The unit cell is hexagonal; space group P(;; a0=2.649+0.003, c0=4"357+0"002 A, with one Rh at (0,0,0) and one Li at (½, ], ½) and calculated density o= 6.88 g.cm -3. Rh atoms are in one layer and Li in the other, the layers alternating along the c axis at co/2 distance apart. The interatomic distances are Rh-Rh = 2-649, Li-Li=2.649 and Rh-Li= 2.663 A.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
