Purpose: The purpose of this in vitro study was to compare the effect of endocrowns and glass fiber postretained crowns on the fracture resistance of endodontically treated maxillary premolars made of different ceramics materials. Materials and Methods:Thirty sound maxillary premolars were endodontically treated. They were randomly assigned into 3 groups (n=10), in which, teeth were prepared to receive all-ceramic restorations. GP: fiber post and resin core and ferrule with all-ceramic (IPS E-max CAD, Ivoclar-Vivadent) conventional crown. GE: Endocrown with butt joint finish line design made of (IPS E-max CAD, Ivoclar-Vivadent). GC: Endocrown with butt joint finish line design made of hybrid nanoceramic (CERASMART, GC Dental, USA). The lithium disilicate (IPS E-max press, Ivoclar-Vivadent) and hybrid nanoceramic (CERASMART, GC Dental, USA) all-ceramic restorations were made by CAD/CAM system (CEREC MC XL SW 4.0) and adhesively cemented with dual-cure resin cement (BisCem Bisco, Inc, USA). Specimens were mounted in a universal testing machine (Model 3345; Instron Industrial Products, Norwood, MA, USA). Each specimen was loaded to failure at a crosshead speed of 5.0 mm / min. Mode of failure was also examined. Data were analyzed using one way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey's post hoc significance difference tests. Differences were considered significant at P<0.05. Results:One way ANOVA test showed that group (GC) recorded statistically significant (p<0.05) highest mean value (1522.64 N) followed by group (GP) (1301.34 N) then group (GE) (725.73 N). Group (GE) recorded the lowest statistically significant (p<0.05) mean value (725.73±137.89 N). Pair-wise Tukey's post-hoc test showed nonsignificant (P>0.05) difference between GP and GC groups. Conclusions:Within the limitations of this study, all fracture resistance loads obtained in this study were far beyond the maximum masticatory forces and the presence of hybrid nanoceramic increased the fracture resistance of endodontically treated maxillary premolars restored with endocrown than those restored with lithium disilicate endocrowns, in failure mode hybrid nanoceramic showed favorable fracture pattern than lithium disilicate.

Pretreatment of dentin with G-Bond and Zinc Zeolite improved the dentin/alloy shear bond strength. Base metal alloys provided superior bond strength values with any adhesive modality compared to noble alloys. Treatment of the dentin surface prior to the application of a self-adhesive system is of great importance to enhancement of the dentin/alloy bond strength.

The purpose of this study was to assess patient satisfaction combined with shade matching of VITA SUPRINITY versus lithium disilicate (IPS e-max CAD) all-ceramic crowns in esthetic zone.26 patients with teeth problems indicated for full coverage Methods: restoration on one tooth in the esthetic zone (from upper central incisor to 1 premolar) were randomized into 2 equal groups (n=13) for which different CAD-CAM ceramic materials were used; (VITA SUPRINITY) a zirconia reinforced lithium silicate ceramic and (IPS e.max CAD) lithium disilicate glass ceramic. The crowns were fabricated to match the shade of the contra-lateral/ adjacent tooth and assessed using the modified USPHS criteria. Also patient satisfaction was assessed. The data obtained by evaluating each assessment criteria were statistically analyzed using the Chi-square test that was performed in categorical data.According to the modified USPHS criteria, 100% of the patients Results:were Alpha score with 0% for Bravo, Charlie and Delta scores in both groups. While according to the visual analogue scale (VAS), 100% of the patients were satisfied while 0% were dissatisfied by the restoration in both groups.The results for both materials in terms of patient satisfaction Conclusions: and shade matching were Alpha. Objective: The purpose of this study was to assess patient satisfaction, gross fracture and marginal adaptation of e.max press endocrowns versus e.max press crowns retained with Fiber reinforced composite post (FRCP) and core in upper anterior teeth. Material and methods: The present study included 24 patients seeking root canal treatment in anterior upper arch. The patients received root canal treatment (RCT) then they were randomly assigned into two groups (n=12). The first group received preparation for the IPS e.max crowns retained with FRCP and core and the second group received preparation for the IPS e.max endocrowns. Press technique was used for the fabrication of both restorations using IPS e.max press ingots. Marginal integrity and gross fracture were evaluated using USPHS criteria and a questionnaire was conducted to evaluate patient satisfaction. Data were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows, Version 23.0. Armonk, NY: IBM Corp. Results: There was no statistical significant difference regarding gross fracture of both groups after 12 months (p-value = 0.093, Effect size = 0.447), meanwhile; group 1 was statistically significantly higher than group 2 regarding marginal integrity (p-value = 0.037, Effect size = 0.513). Regarding patient satisfaction FRCP and core group showed statistical significant higher satisfaction than endocrown group (p-value = 0.047, Effect size = 0.447). Conclusion: E.max press endocrowns revealed successful performance similar to e.max press crowns retained with FRCP in terms of gross fracture, however better marginal adaptation and patient satisfaction was obtained with e.max press crowns retained with FRC post and core group.   Keywords Anterior teeth; Endocrown; Endodontically treated teeth; Fiber Post; E.max.
