Synthesis of Pyridazine Acetic Acid Derivatives Possessing AldoseReductase Inhibitory Activity and Antioxidant Properties.-N-Acetic acid derivatives (VII) of 4-carboxy-6-arylpyridazin-3-ones are synthesized for the dual purpose of inhibiting aldose reductase and exhibiting antioxidant properties. All the prepared compounds show a significant in vitro aldose reductase inhibitory effect. The spatial configuration of the most active derivative (VIf) is compared with pharmacophore requirements of the aldose reductase inhibitor site. The antioxidant action of (VI) is also studied in vitro. Compound (VIc) is the most effective at scavenging the superoxide anion whereas (VIa) is the most effective at inhibiting lipid peroxidation. -(COUDERT, P.; ALBUISSON, E.; BOIRE, J. scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
