Durante a pandemia de Covid-19 esportes ao ar livre, como o Beach tennis (BT) se popularizaram no Brasil. O BT, esporte relativamente novo, é considerado o esporte que mais cresce no país, é praticado com raquete, em arenas de areia ou praias e possui uma dinâmica semelhante ao tênis. Juntamente com o crescente número de praticantes do esporte espera-se um aumento na incidência de lesões relacionadas ao mesmo. Com isso, urge a necessidade de estudar as lesões mais prevalentes nesta prática esportiva. Apesar da popularidade do esporte, ainda existem poucos estudos na literatura acerca da epidemiologia das lesões relacionadas ao BT. O presente estudo tem como objetivo fornecer dados epidemiológicos acerca de lesões relacionadas ao BT. Consiste em um estudo transversal, descritivo, o qual foi realizado por meio de um questionário quantitativo formulado através do Google Forms aplicado em adeptos à prática do BT. Foram avaliadas variáveis diretas em relação ao esporte, como a frequência da prática esportiva, incidência de lesões e as suas respectivas regiões anatômicas, tratamento e práticas de prevenção de lesões. Um total de 60 pessoas responderam ao questionário, das quais 43,3% estavam na faixa etária de 41-60 anos, 33,3% de 21-40 anos e 20% tinham idade inferior a 20 anos. Sobre o gênero dos participantes, 55% eram mulheres e 45% homens. Em relação ao tempo em que pratica o BT 43,3% começaram a no máximo 6 meses atrás e 16,7% praticavam a mais de 2 anos. Com relação à frequência da prática do esporte, 65% praticavam de 1-2 vezes por semana, 20% de 3-4 vezes por semana, 6,7% de 5-7 vezes por semana. Entre todos os praticantes, 40% já sofreram alguma lesão. Em relação à prevalência de lesões, 35% haviam se lesionado de 1-2 vezes, 6,7% entre 3-4 vezes e 3,3% responderam que sofreram 5 ou mais lesões. No que diz respeito à região anatômica acometida, 25% das lesões ocorreram no ombro, 18,3% no joelho, 15% no cotovelo, 13,3% no punho, 3,3% no tornozelo, 31% responderam outras regiões. Dos participantes que se lesionaram, 57% trataram com orientações de profissionais e 43% sem nenhuma orientação. No que tange à prevenção de lesões, 65% fazem algum tipo de trabalho de prevenção de lesão. Destes, 40% praticam musculação, 23,3% fazem alongamento, 5% fazem fisioterapia e 31,7% responderam que fazem outro tipo de prevenção. Por fim, observa-se que a prática de BT está associada à uma considerável taxa de lesões pelos seus praticantes, sendo essas lesões mais comuns em áreas como ombro e cotovelo. Uma parte significativa tratou-se sem a orientação de um profissional ou não tratou a lesão, o que pode interferir negativamente na recuperação desse paciente, aumentando a recorrência e os agravos relacionados às lesões. Vale ressaltar que a maioria dos participantes realiza trabalhos de prevenção de lesão, sendo musculação e alongamento os mais comuns, fato que otimiza a prevenção das mesmas. Com isso, observamos a necessidade de estudos com enfoque neste esporte, tendo em vista a sua crescente popularidade e a escassez de literatura na comunidade científica. Acadêmicos de medicina têm uma rotina notoriamente desgastante, fato que dificulta a adesão à prática de atividades físicas regulares, prejudicando a qualidade de vida e predispondo a transtornos psicossociais como ansiedade, depressão e compulsão alimentar. Essa última emerge como um dos principais fatores de risco para doenças cardiovasculares e metabólicas e é um importante fator no aumento do IMC da população. Ademais, em busca de um estilo de vida mais saudável, nota-se um aumento na procura por exercícios físicos e acompanhamento nutricional pela população, incluindo estudantes de medicina. Acresce-se que, devido a um maior número de praticantes de atividades físicas, a prevalência de lesões esportivas também aumentou, indicando a importância do acompanhamento com educador físico, profissional fundamental na prevenção de injúrias desportivas. Além disso, sabe-se que o bom hábito nutricional é uma forma eficaz de evitar sobrepeso, que é um dos principais fatores de risco para lesões ortopédicas. Baseado nisso, o presente estudo tem como objetivo avaliar a prevalência de lesões no esporte e o IMC de estudantes de medicina que praticam atividade física e comparar os que possuem acompanhamento nutricional e com educador físico com aqueles que não possuem. Trata-se de um estudo transversal, descritivo, realizado por meio de um questionário quantitativo formulado através do Google Forms e aplicado em estudantes de medicina. Foram analisados 77 questionários que avaliaram prática de atividade física, acompanhamento com educador físico, acompanhamento nutricional, dados para o cálculo do IMC e prevalência de lesões esportivas. Diante disso, foi observado que 83,1% (64) praticam atividade física e 16,9% (13) não praticam, com frequência média de 3 a 4 vezes semanais, com predomínio na prática conjunta de esportes aeróbicos e anaeróbicos (51,9%). Além do mais, foram analisados dados de acompanhamento nutricional, no qual 70,1% (54) não possuíam tal assistência, e acompanhamento com educador físico, no qual 66,2% (51) também não possuíam. Também foram analisados dados de lesões sofridas durante a prática de atividade física, no qual 46,8% (36) relataram que já sofreram algum tipo de lesão, com frequência média de 1 a 2 lesões (27,3%). Ademais, lesões musculares foram as mais comuns nesta pesquisa (33,8%). Destas, apenas 14,3% das pessoas procuraram ajuda profissional e 29,9% trataram a lesão sem qualquer orientação. De acordo com a classificação de peso pelo Índice de Massa Corporal (IMC), foi observado que a maioria dos participantes são eutróficos (49,3%), no entanto, 16 possuem apenas acompanhamento com educador físico, 11 apenas acompanhamento nutricional e 8 possuem ambos, (41,5%) apresentam sobrepeso, 9 tem apenas acompanhamento com educador físico, 13 apenas acompanhamento nutricional e 7 possuem ambos. Por fim, observa-se que a maioria dos participantes pratica atividade física sem nenhum acompanhamento. Além disso, o número de lesões se mostrou significativo entre os estudantes que praticam atividade física. Ademais, foi perceptível que a maioria dos participantes deste estudo são eutróficos (49,3%) ou possuem sobrepeso (41,5%) e apenas 49 possuem algum tipo de acompanhamento.
