On 14 April 2014, the first laboratory-confirmed case of Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) infection was reported in Malaysia in a man in his mid-fifties, who developed pneumonia with respiratory distress, after returning from a pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia. The case succumbed to his illness three days after admission at a local hospital. The follow-up of 199 close contacts identified through contact tracing and vigilant surveillance did not result in detecting any other confirmed cases of MERS-CoV infection.

Introduction- Evaluation of diagnostic accuracy of fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) in salivary gland neoplasms. Materials and method – this is a crossectional study provides analysis of 82 salivary neoplasms out of 244 salivary FNAC during the period September 2011 to august 2014. All non neoplastic lesions were excluded from the study.All age group and both sex were included. FNAC results were  reviewed, the morphology of individual cells and their patterns in the smears were studied  in detail  and diagnosis were made. Histopathological studies were done whenever possible and were considered the gold standard. Results – The study included 82 cases, male to female ratio was 1.2 :1 ; commonly involved age group was 20 to 40 years. Fiftyfive cases (67.07%) were diagnosed as benign, 27 cases (32.93%) as malignant tumors. Pleomorphic  adenoma(59.76%) was most common benign neoplasms and mucoepidermoid carcinoma(23.17%) was most common malignant neoplasms. Parotid was most frequently involved gland(63.41%).Benign tumors common in parotid gland malignant tumors common in submandibular gland.Diagnostic accuracy was found to be 94.87% with false negative rate 5.1%. Conclusion – FNAC of salivary gland proved to be  a highly accurate initial diagnostic test for preoperative evaluation of salivary neoplasms.

Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic mass lesions are commonly occurring intra-abdominal space occupying lesions. Image guided FNAC enables exact localization of the lesion, assessment of nature and invasion and is a useful tool in the diagnosis of such lesions. The present study aims to evaluate the spectrum of hepatobiliary mass lesions diagnosed by Image guided FNAC. We have conducted a retrospective study in Department of Pathology, Gauhati Medical College & Hospital, Guwahati, for a period of 5 years, including patients of all ages and both sexes presenting with clinical and radiological suspicion of hepatic, biliary or pancreatic mass lesion. Under aseptic conditions USG guidance FNAC was done from the appropriate site and smears were examined. Out of the total 135 patients, there were 70 cases of Hepatic lesions (51.8%), followed by 54 cases taken from Gall bladder (GB) (40%), 5 cases from Common Bile Duct (CBD) (3.7%) and 6 cases (4.44%) from Pancreatic lesions. There were 51 cases of hepatic malignancies, 36 GB malignancies, 4 cases each of CBD and pancreatic malignancies. The most common Hepatic malignancies were Metastases followed by Hepatocellular carcinoma. The most common GB malignancy was Adenocarcinoma, followed by Cholangiocarcinoma. There was 1 case each of Solid Pseudopapillary Neoplasm of Pancreas, Acinar Cell carcinoma, Mucinous Adenocarcinoma and HCC. These findings were in concordance with our reference studies. Image guided FNAC has proved to be a versatile tool in provide an early and accurate diagnosis of hepatobiliary and pancreatic mass lesions.

Retinoblastoma is one of the common intraocular malignancy in childhood. It’s incidence varies between 1 in 3300 to1 in 20,000 live birth. Retinal dysplasia is a rare disorder which can mimic retinoblastoma. Retinal dysplasia is a rare cause of childhood leucocoria, which can cause considerable diagnostic difficulty in the differentiation of benign and malignant intraocular pathologies Enucleation is often required for both these conditions. In this series we are discussing 4 cases of enucleated eyeball. Out of these 4 cases three cases were of retinoblastoma.4 case was done for post traumatic phthysis bulbi. In this case series we are discussing diagnostic and prognostic indicators of Retinoblastoma as well as retinal dysplasia.

Background: Prostate cancer represents the second most frequently diagnosed malignancy among the male and fth leading cause of death. Tumour grade is one of the most important prognostic factors of prostate cancer. There are many markers studied in prostatic cancers, but the most extensively studied one is Ki-67, the proliferative marker. Prostatic cancers with Ki-67 over expression are generally aggressive. Aim And Objectives: - Aim of this study is evaluate ki67 immunoexpression in adenocarcinoma of prostate and to correlate with histopathological grade (Gleason Grade). This is single centre cross sectional study. The patie Material Methods:- nt who visited department of urology and renal transplant in Gauhati medical college and hospital and whose TRUS guided biopsy were received in the pathology department and diagnosed as adenocarcinoma were included. A total 50 cases were analysed. Tumour grade was determined according to Gleason's grading system and Ki-67 expressions were determined by IHC staining. The obtained results were analysed and evaluated using Chi square test (IBM SPSS version 21). Result And Interpretation:- A statically signicant correlation found between Gleason Grade and Ki-67 immuno expression with a p value of <0.001. In this study a statistically signicant correlation was found between Conclusion: - Gleason Grade and ki-67 labelling index. Hence Ki-67 immunoexpression evaluation and its result can be incorporated with histopathology which may inuence clinical decision making as prognosis of prostate cancer.
