BACKGROUND: The access to safe drinkingwater is increasingly difficult, especially in water catchment or coastal areas. Due to the difficulty, people in coastal areas tend to consume ready-to-use refilled drinking-water. However, the sanitation facilities on most drinking-water refill depots do not meet the requirements, hence really prone to microbial contamination. We conducted this study to determine the types of bacteria causing the contamination of refilled drinking-water from refill depots in Abeli, a coastal area in Kendari.METHODS: Samples were collected from all 6 drinkingwater refill depots in Abeli. Three-series fermentation tubes were used for the microbiological test, including the presumptive, confirmative and completed tests. The biochemical test was performed with indole test, methyl red test, Voges-Proskauer test, and citrate utilization test (IMViC) methods and the triple sugar iron agar (TSIA) test.RESULTS: Among 6 refilled drinking-water samples, we found the growth of coliform bacterial colonies in 3 samples, exhibiting various characteristics. Based on the characteristics, both microbiological and biochemical, the identified bacteria were Proteus sp., Escherichia coli and Klebsiella oxytoca.CONCLUSION: Bacteria that contaminated refilled drinking-water in Abeli were Proteus sp., E. coli and K. oxytoca. BACKGROUND: Dyspareunia and pain due to the decrease of vaginal wall thickness usually happen in menopausal women. The reduction of estrogen levels cause the decreasing of cell proliferation and the thinning of vaginal wall epithelium. Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) is a source of phytoestrogens, which produce estrogenic effects. This study aims to assess the effect of tomato juice on Ki-67 expression and epithelial thickness of the vaginal wall in menopausal rats.METHODS: This was an experimental study using Sprague-Dawley rats. Twenty-four female rats, aged 4 months and weighing 150-200 grams, were divided into 4 groups. Each group consisted of 6 rats. Negative control (NC) group was group of rats with sham procedure and performed by distilled water for 28 days. Positive control (PC) group was group of bilateral ovariectomized rats and performed by distilled water for 28 days. The first treatment (T1) group was group of bilateral ovariectomized rats, given tomato juice at dose of 11g/200g body weight (BW)/day. The second treatment (T2) group was group of bilateral ovariectomized rats, given tomato juice at dose of 15g/200g BW/day. Data analysis was done with Anova, multiple comparisons and regression test.RESULTS: The group with lowest Ki-67 expression was PC group (2.52±0.60). The expression of Ki-67 in treatment groups (T1 and T2) was higher than PC group, but lower than NC group. There was no significant difference between groups (p=0.771). The lowest epithelial thickness was found in PC group (21.19±3.96) and the highest was found in the treatment groups (38.73±12.43). There was positive correlation between tomato juice and epithelial thickness (p=0.647).CONCLUSION: Tomato juice increases Ki-67 expression and epithelial thickness on the vaginal wall of menopausal rats. The increase of epithelial thickness follows the administration dose, but Ki-67 expression does not exceed in the control rats. Tomato juice increases the cell proliferation of vaginal wall on menopausal rats, however the increase is still within normal limits.KEYWORDS: epithelial thickness, Ki-67, menopause, tomato juice
Objective: To analyze factors associated with anxiety in postmenopausal women. Methods: This study was descriptive analytic with cross-sectional approach conducted in 228 postmenopausal women that aged 50-64 years old in coastal areas of Kendari City. Samples were taken by simple random sampling. The technique of collecting data used questionnaires and the Taylor Manifest Anxiety Scale (T-MAS). Data were analyzed using Chi-square test with a significance value p 0.05. Results: The results showed that 188 respondents (82.4%) had. anxiety. Its most experienced anxiety was aged 50-54 years old (37.7%), low education (96.0%), as housewife (62.7%), low income (91.2%) and lived with a partner (54.4%). There was correlation between anxiety with age (p=0.016), education level (p = 0.009), income (p = 0.011), and residence status (p = 0.029). There was no correlation between anxiety with occupation (p = 0.351). Conclusion: There was a correlation between anxiety in postmenopausal women in coastal areas with age, education level, income, and residence status. Background: Adequate health systems and effective strategies are needed to increase trust and acceptance in vaccines. Generation Z is more concerned with environmental issues related to the pandemic situation.Objective: This study aimed to assess the acceptance of the COVID-19 vaccine in Generation Z.Methods: This was an observational analytical study with a cross-sectional design on generation Z in Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia, from May to July 2021. The samples were taken by cluster sampling using faculty classification. Data was collected using a questionnaire with a google form, included the characteristics, knowledge regarding COVID-19 and vaccine, and the media information.Results: There were 396 participants. Most of them were 20 years (52.6%), female (74.8%), and Muslim (93.7%). About 61.6% live outside the city and had insurance (77.3%). Half of the participants knew the COVID-19 symptoms (51.26%), some participants were hesitant (11.8%) and did not even know (0.76%). Almost all participants were aware of the COVID-19 vaccination program (99.2%), benefits (95.2%), side effects (84.1%), and knew the contents of the COVID-19 vaccine (62.1%). Most of them were willing to take the COVID-19 vaccine (77.8%). However, 17.93% were hesitant, and 4.29% were unwilling to participate. Most participants were not trusting vaccines (43.9%), did not feel the need (29.3%), and felt access was not easy (26.8%). Most of them used social media to get information about COVID-19 (89.1%).Conclusion: Generation Z has a good acceptance of the COVID-19 vaccine, even though there are still doubts and rejects. Accurately and sustainable information is needed.
Objective: To determine the clinical profile of pregnant women with COVID-19 who hospitalized in a referral hospital.Methods: This was a descriptive study conducted on pregnant women with COVID-19 who were hospitalized at Regional Hospital of Bau-Bau and Bahteramas Hospital in Southeast Sulawesi from May to July 2020. The confirmation of COVID-19 was based on RT-PCR. Data including characteristics, clinical profile, laboratory test, imaging, management, and outcomes.Results: There were 41 pregnant women with COVID-19 and no maternal death cases. Maternal age was approximately 19 to 39 years, had middle education levels, and was a housewife. Most of them did not know their closed contacts, had no comorbidities, and referrals from other hospitals. They were 3rd-trimester and hospitalized with complaints related to pregnancy. Only 3 cases had complaints related to COVID-19, namely fever and cough. The majority of laboratory tests were leucocytosis. Chest X-ray shows bronchopneumonia, pneumonia, and normal imaging. Obstetrics management was performed according to the condition of the mother and fetus, including vaginal delivery, cesarean section, and curettage. The treatment was using broad-spectrum antibiotics and antiviral. Complications in the fetus/infant were abortion, fetal distress, LBW, and asphyxia.Conclusion: Pregnant women with COVID-19 have mild or asymptomatic symptoms, hospitalized with complaints related to their pregnancy, and treatment according to the condition of the mother and fetus. There are no complications in the mother, while complications in the baby are not clear.Keywords: COVID-19, pregnant women, referral hospital. Abstrak Tujuan: Mengetahui gambaran klinis ibu hamil dengan COVID-19 yang masuk di rumah sakit rujukan COVID-19.Metode: Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif yang dilakukan pada ibu hamil dengan COVID-19 yang dirawat di rumah sakit rujukan di Sulawesi Tenggara, yaitu RSUD Bau-Bau dan RSU Bahteramas di Kendari, pada bulan Mei sampai Juli 2020. Konfirmasi positif COVID-19 berdasarkan hasil pemeriksaan RT-PCR. Data berupa karakteristik, gambaran klinis, pemeriksaan penunjang, penatalaksanaan, dan luaran. Hasil: Terdapat 41 ibu hamil dengan COVID-19 dan tidak ada kasus kematian ibu. Usia ibu berkisar 19-39 tahun, tingkat pendidikan menengah, dan sebagai ibu rumah tangga. Sebagian besar kasus pada trimester-3, tidak tahu memiliki kontak erat, tidak memiliki komorbid, dan rujukan dari RS lain. Sebagian besar dirawat dengan keluhan terkait kehamilannya dan hanya 3 kasus dengan keluhan terkait COVID-19, yaitu demam dan batuk. Pemeriksaan laboratorium menunjukkan lekositosis. Gambaran foto toraks menunjukkan bronkopneumonia, pneumonia, dan normal. Tindakan obstetri dilakukan atas indikasi ibu dan janin, yaitu persalinan normal, seksio sesarea, dan kuretase. Terapi yang digunakan adalah antibiotic spectrum luas dan antivirus. Komplikasi pada janin/bayi berupa abortus, gawat janin, BBLR, dan asfiksia. Kesimpulan: Ibu hamil dengan COVID-19 memiliki gejala ringan atau asimtomatik, dirawat dengan keluhan terkait kehamilannya, dan dilakukan tindakan obstetri sesuai dengan indikasi ibu dan janin. Tidak ada komplikasi pada ibu, sedangkan komplikasi pada bayi belum jelas.Kata kunci: COVID-19, ibu hamil, rumah sakit rujukan
