JULIO MENEGHELLCX JULIO GUASCH y RAUL EBERHARD En nuestro Servicio de Urgencia del Hospital Arriaran. hemos tenido oportunidad de observar en un pequeno grupo de ninos,, los efectos producidos per la ingestion accidental de pequefias cantidades de bencina o parafina, dedicando especial atencion a las manifestaciones-pulmonares, conccidas ya a traves de numeros,as publicacicnes extranjeras, con el nombre de neumonias a kerosene. Considerando la rareza del cuadro y su interes en la practica de Medicina Infantil de Urgencia, hemos unido a nuestra breve experiencia, algunas nocicnes adquiridas de otros autores. En la bibliografia extranjera aparecen numerosas referencias sobre este tema, que ha preocupado a los investie:adores desde fines del siglo pasado. Bliss (1899), Le Gludie y Turlais (1914) citadcs pot-Waring (7) describieron neumonias en ninos fallecidos a causa de la ingestion de kerosene. En 1926, Barbour publica cuatro observaciones de intoxicacion por kerosene en nines. Pcsteriormente en Norte America aparecen los trabajos de Nunny Martin (1931-1933) y Waring (1933). Este ultimo mvestigador, en un total de 23 ninos que habian ingerido bencina o parafina, comprueba en 9 de ellos la apancion de neumopatias.
