Summary Urban space is a key dimension of social life and, therefore, a transversal axis to be taken into account when reflecting on power relations and inequality (SEGURA, 2014). Particularly, in Latin America, the great wealth of urban land comes from collectively created location privileges but monopolized by private groups (MORALES-SCHECHINGER, 2005). We start by considering that the dynamics of class exploitation are not only recognizable in workplaces, but also in other forms of extraction of surpluses (land prices, rents, etc.) in the reproduction medium that is the city (MANSILLA, 2013). In the first instance, we discuss the conceptual nature of land rents. Then, we analyze the urban transformations that took place in the city of Cordoba, Argentina, focusing on the public policies implemented and their impact on the distribution and redistribution of urban income. Finally, we reflect on the impact of these policies. To this end, the methodological strategy consisted in the analysis of specific bibliography and data from secondary sources (documents of the public organisms, web pages of the companies and journalistic notes).
