Cet article présente une analyse des pratiques de deux enseignantes de français pour voir comment se manifeste, à l’oral, la réflexivité de leurs élèves. Une question générale est à l’origine de cette étude: quelles manifestations langagières de l’activité réflexive observe-t-on dans des pratiques d’enseignement qui ne sollicitent pas intentionnellement la réflexivité? Notre contribution présente les outils théoriques et méthodologiques que nous avons conçus pour décrire et analyser les manifestations de l’activité réflexive des élèves à l’oral, à travers des conduites discursives qui nécessitent un travail de reformulation, d’explication, de comparaison, d’argumentation et de création de la part des élèves.
Dans un programme de recherche sur l'enseignement de la lecture au secondaire, nous tentons de comprendre comment des élèves québécois francophones maitrisent les stratégies de lecture. À l'aide de la méthode de la pensée à voix haute (Think Aloud Protocols), nous avons évalué leurs capacités métacognitives en lecture. Dans cet article, nous avons regroupé les élèves en fonction de leur niveau de contrôle métacognitif, partant des élèves qui régulent le mieux leur activité de compréhension pour terminer avec ceux qui éprouvent d'importantes difficultés à la remettre en question.Nous tentons, dans un programme de recherche sur l'enseignement de la lecture au secondaire, de comprendre comment des élèves québécois francophones maitrisent les stratégies de lecture qui sont au coeur de l'activité de compréhension (Pressley & Harris, 2006). Pour ce faire, nous avons utilisé la méthode de la pensée à voix haute (Think Aloud Protocols) pour évaluer leurs capacités métacognitives en lecture. Dans cette contribution, nous tenterons de répondre à la question suivante : Dans quelle mesure les élèves du secondaire maitrisent-ils, de façon consciente, les stratégies de lecture lorsqu'ils lisent un texte narratif ? Leur niveau de conscience métacognitive et leur capacité de contrôle de leur activité de lecture sont ainsi pour nous des indicateurs du niveau de littératie des élèves, soit leurs capacités à s'approprier des messages écrits et à se donner des moyens efficaces pour mieux contrôler leur activité de lecture (CCA, 2011). Dans le cas du texte étudié dans notre recherche, Solidarité de Calvino, nous devrons aussi considérer des enjeux liés à la polysémie des textes littéraires, à leur indétermination, dans la mesure où ils bousculent les attentes de cohérence des lecteurs. Ces enjeux sont aussi liés au développement de la littératie des adolescents, car ils relèvent de leur capacité à concevoir que des textes peuvent jouer avec la langue, avec le réel, avec des stéréotypes génériques, comportementaux, etc. (Dufays, Gemenne, & Ledur, 2005).Après avoir situé l'importance de la métacognition dans le développement du niveau de littératie en lecture des élèves, nous présenterons les outils que nous avons construits pour recueillir nos données et les analyser.
