A partir de la experiencia histórica de la Universidad de Antioquia, este artículo analiza el denominado cogobierno universitario en el marco de las protestas estudiantiles entre los años de 1970 y 1973. Para ello se realiza una revisión de las acciones internas que se llevaron a cabo en el caso de la Universidad, las estrategias de actuación de los Consejos Superior y Directivo y la participación de estudiantes y profesores con el fin de establecer el papel de la Universidad como escenario de tensiones políticas y de divergentes concepciones sobre su ideal y propósito
El propósito de este artículo es analizar la importancia de la prensa como fuente documental para el estudio de la historia política y cultural a partir de experiencias de investigación historiográfica sobre el siglo XX en Colombia en las cuales se ha recurrido a esta como fuente de interpretación. En primer lugar, se propone desvelar el sentido y alcance de la prensa liberal y conservadora en los años treinta y cuarenta; en segundo lugar, mostrar el tratamiento que la prensa hizo sobre las movilizaciones estudiantiles en los años sesenta y setenta del siglo XX. Los dos contrastes permitirán reconocer la evolución y usos de la prensa como mediadora de opinión pública y como acervo documental para el análisis y la investigación social, especialmente para el estudio de la historia local y nacional del país. Para ello, se hace referencia al estudio de la prensa a través del «análisis de marcos», el cual permite entender y dar cuenta de los esfuerzos estratégicos conscientes realizados por ciertos grupos de personas para construir interpretaciones compartidas del mundo que motivan la acción colectiva.
En el libro es posible observar el papel desempeñado por los periódicos en la formación de la cultura y las representaciones políticos de la época, tanto en el nivel de socialización partidista como en el ámbito de la construcción de una opinión pública. Si bien la fuente periodística es un referente para la investigación histórica, el presente análisis se realizó en la perspectiva de estudiar los discursos liberales de las diferentes coyunturas electorales, los cuales fueron determinantes para la consolidación del Partido LiberalColombiano en el poder desde 1930 hasta 1946. Los discursos se constituyeron en una impronta novedosa sobre la cuestión social, el intervencionismo estatal y la modernización, y permitieron la unión de los periódicos con las ideologías políticas en boga en el país en aquella época.
<p>Tal como sucedió en otros lugares del mundo, en Colombia durante las décadas de los sesenta y los setenta primó un ambiente de lucha revolucionaria. Los líderes sindicales, los antiguos militantes del partido Comunista, algunos literatos y artistas de avanzada y los jóvenes universitarios fueron atraídos, desde puntos de vista ideológico, emocional y político por las corrientes discursivas que abogaban por una revolución total. Este artículo analiza los casos de cinco jóvenes que pasaron de la lucha ideológica a empuñar las armas. Son los casos de Jaime Arenas Reyes, Víctor Medina Morón, Fabio y Manuel Vásquez Castaño y Ricardo Lara Parada, quienes conformaron el primer núcleo de lo que se conocería después como Ejército de Liberación Nacional (ELN). Un análisis prosopográfico de estos cinco casos nos permitirá ver la estrecha relación entre el ambiente universitario de las décadas de los sesenta y setenta y el surgimiento de la lucha armada en Colombia.</p>
