A geração de energia elétrica no mundo é baseada principalmente em combustíveis fósseis, na América do Sul a matriz elétrica apresenta predominância de energias renováveis com destaque para a energia hidráulica, por esse motivo a quantidade de barragens é alta. A região apresenta zonas com elevada sismicidade, o que faz com que seja necessário avaliar o impacto dos sismos nas obras de grande porte. RESUMO: A ruptura de taludes, principalmente durante o período chuvoso, é um dos grandes problemas enfrentados pelas cidades brasileiras, por esse motivo, a necessidade de conter e estabilizar os solos é cada vez mais frequente. O uso do muro de alvenaria estrutural é crescente e a metodologia carece de estudos para melhor entender e analisar o seu comportamento e custo. Assim, o objetivo desse trabalho foi desenvolver uma análise comparativa entre dois métodos utilizados para contenção de taludes, o muro à flexão em concreto armado e o muro em alvenaria estrutural. Foi realizado o dimensionamento dos métodos estudados para diferentes alturas, o levantamento dos custos e, por fim, a discussão dos resultados encontrados entre si e com outros trabalhos já realizados. Foi observado que o muro em alvenaria apresenta um menor custo, no entanto, para alturas superiores à 5 metros ele deixa de atender aos critérios de segurança. Conclui-se que o muro em alvenaria apresenta o melhor custo-benefício para alturas de até 5 metros, enquanto o muro à flexão pode ser utilizado em alturas maiores na contrapartida do aumento do custo. O desenvolvimento econômico de um país se concentra nos eixos das grandes rodovias, que tem como objetivo direcionar todo o processo de transporte de insumos, produtos e serviços. No Brasil é notório o estado precário das estradas, muitos dos danos evidenciados, são provocados por movimentos de massa nos aterros rodoviários que podem ser originados por deficiências no processo de compactação. Para que um solo possa ser usado em obras de aterros rodoviários é necessário que se cumpram alguns requisitos, garantido que sejam alcançadas certas propriedades que melhoram seu comportamento mecânico. A presente pesquisa objetivou a obtenção de parâmetros de resistência para um material típico do Distrito Federal compactado com diferentes umidades para ser utilizado na conformação de aterros rodoviários. Para a execução do trabalho foi coletada uma amostra deformada de solo, retirada no campus do UniCEUB na Asa Norte. Depois de obter os parâmetros de resistência do solo, peso específico natural, ângulo de atrito e coesão, foram realizadas análises de estabilidade de taludes de aterros de diversas seções transversais hipotéticas, simuladas no módulo GeoSlope do programa GeoStudio, tendo como produto deste estudo os respectivos fatores de segurança de cada seção e suas características. O estudo comparativo dos fatores de segurança das seções para diferentes umidades do solo é de grande importância tendo em vista que o controle da umidade no canteiro de obras é precário, levando em consideração que o material dispõe-se a céu aberto e exposto a intempéries, tornando-se impraticável obter precisão e estabilidade no teor de umidade, sendo obrigado a trabalhar em valores diferentes da umidade ótima, ocasionando divergências entre projeto e execução. Após as análises realizadas, foi possível identificar que em alguns casos existe a possibilidade de se trabalhar em períodos de seca ou de pluviosidade elevada sem comprometer a construção, utilização e a segurança do aterro rodoviário. Observou-se que a Areia-argilosa do Distrito Federal além de possuir características ideais no ponto ótimo, também demonstrou cenários favoráveis no ramo mais seco da umidade, retornando elevados valores do fator de segurança. Em relação à inclinação dos aterros foi notável que quanto mais íngreme, o fator de segurança diminui, seguindo na mesma linha as seções com a altura mais elevada. Da mesma forma, quando aterros mais elevados possuíam banquetas em sua composição, os fatores de segurança se otimizavam numa tentativa de se aproximar às seções de menor altura, ratificando a finalidade da berma de equilíbrio.
As inclusões rígidas têm sido usadas principalmente em projetos de aterros sobre solos moles, mas nas últimas décadas, a técnica também tem sido utilizada como método de fundação para diferentes tipos de estruturas. Neste trabalho, por meio de modelos físicos em escala real (1g) e modelos físicos em centrífuga geotécnica (30g), foi avaliado o mecanismo de transferência de carga desenvolvido numa plataforma de transferência de carga conformada por um material coesivo típico da região do Distrito Federal, Brasil (com e sem adição de cimento). A partir dos modelos físicos foi observada a forma do cone de transferência de carga desenvolvida entre a cabeça da inclusão e o radier. Ao simular uma condição crítica, a plataforma de transferência de carga é estável após a retirada do confinamento, apresentando uma elevada eficiência. Foi observado um importante ganho de resistência do material compactado com cimento e um melhor desempenho das inclusões rígidas quando se utiliza este material. Quando a rigidez e resistência do material da plataforma de transferência de carga aumenta, os recalques diminuem, mas as tensões nas cabeças das inclusões aumentam, o que deve ser considerado no projeto estrutural. A distribuição de cargas não é uniforme, as inclusões centrais recebem a maior parte. Os resultados indicaram a necessidade da construção de um anel periférico de inclusões para aumentar a eficiência do sistema. Os recalques resultam principalmente da deformação do cone de transferência de carga acima da cabeça da inclusão.
