The objective of this work is to develop a handset adaptive antenna for operation at the frequency of 5.8 GHz. This antenna must be compact and have fast convergence. A phased array of switched beam elements is introduced to speed up initialization of CMA. Using dual-feed switched-beam patch antennas, the antenna system can be compact. An array element has dimension of 15.5x15.5 mm2 and the array radius of 15.5 mm. Hence, the antenna dimension is 46.5x46.5 mm2 which is sufriciently small to install on a handset.Index Terms -Phased array of switched-beam elements, dual-feed switched-beam patch antenna, handset adaptive antenna. zA probe 2 h x w (a)
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
