Musik ist tonal und das an der Kasse erhältliche Songbook lädt ein, sich selbst an den oft peinlich simplen, aber dafür umso treffenderen Liedchen zu versuchen. Peter Androsch setzt zum Spagat zwischen U-und E-Musik an, ohne die eine mit der anderen auszuspielen, ohne allzu attitüdenhaft große Oper erzwingen, oder das Schlicht-Banale zur hohen Kunst erheben zu wollen. Dieser gerade richtige Mittelweg könnte auch die Türen jenen öffnen, die vor Oper und Musiktheater aus welchen Gründen auch immer (noch) zurückschrecken.Die neue Zusammenarbeit mit dem Opernstudio der Bruckner-Privatuniversität (Leitung Thomas Kerbl) erwies sich als besonders inspirierend -die "hauseigenen" Schauspieler, allen voran Ingrid Höller, die die mit dem von den Autoren geforderten russischen Englischakzent ausgestattete Varla minutiös genau zeichnete, aber auch Maxi Blaha als versoffene Kumpanin Billie und Helmut Fröhlich als frauengeiler Weiberhasser wurden durch die jungen Sänger ideal ergänzt. Christiane Zollhauser war dabei die ideale Verkörperung des Dummchens vom Lande, wie auch Gerhard Reiterer einen in allen Richtungen Verklemmten zu mimen wusste. Besonderes Lob an Matthias Hack, der den geistig zurückgeblieben Sohn "Gemüse" brillant komisch darstellen konnte. Im pinkfarbenen "Busendorfer"-Sounddesign eröffnete sich dem launig unterhaltenen und restlos begeisterten Publikum eine neue, und doch an Traditionen fest gebundene Welt der "Pussycats".
