Enterococcus faecalis es considerada una cepa con gran capacidad de adaptación y tolerancia a las condiciones de un medio adverso, siendo difícil su erradicación en una endodoncia. Objetivo: Estudiar el efecto antimicrobiano del extracto de Piper aungustifolium, más conocida en nuestro medio como matico sobre la cepa Enterococcus faecalis. Material y Métodos: Se realizó una siembra de la cepa ATCC 29212 (Enterococcus faecalis) en placas con Agar Cerebro Corazón BHI, luego se colocó en las superficies de sensidiscos de 5 mm de diámetro embebidos con las soluciones del matico, y se hizo 3 pozos de 5 mm de diámetro por 6 mm de profundidad, utilizándose una puntera descartable de 1 ml, previamente tratada y esterilizada para colocar el hidróxido de calcio como grupo control y Piper aungustifolium como grupo experimental. Para cada grupo se utilizaron 24 muestras; luego se incubaron a 37o C, a las 24, 48, 72 horas y 7 días, registrándose el diámetro de los halos. Resultados: Los promedios de la medida del halo inhibitorio de Piper aungustifolum (matico) fueron menores que la del hidróxido de calcio. Se aplicó posteriormente T de Student (p <0,05) , dando como resultado diferencia estadísticamente significativa entre los datos obtenidos para las tomas a las 24, 72 y 7 días, exceptuando aquellas a las 48 horas donde no hubo diferencia entre ambas sustancias. Conclusiones: La Piper aungustifolum, demostró tener efecto antibacteriano frente al Enterococcus faecalis, sus medidas fueron variadas y progresivas a través de tiempo.
La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo determinar el halo inhibitorio de la Caesalpinia espinosa (Tara), de Hidróxido de Calcio y de Gluconato de clorhexidina al 2% sobre la cepa de Enterococcus faecalis, bacteria bastante conocida por provocar elevado porcentaje de fincases en endodoncia. El procedimiento consistió en sembrar la cepa Enterococcus faecalis (ATCC 29212) en 16 placas con Agar Cerebro Corazón, las cuales fueron divididas en 3 unidades por placa, evaluándose así 48 unidades de estudio, 24 unidades para el grupo experimental I (Caesalpinia espinosa al 60%) y 24 para el grupo experimental 2 (Hidróxido de Calcio y Gluconato de clorhexidina al 2%). Se adicionaron 4 placas petri, 3 para el control positivo (Amoxicilina — Acido clavulánico) y I placa Petri para el control negativo (Suero fisiológico). Se colocaron sensidiscos embebidos con la solución de Caesalpinia espinosa y se hizo pozos de 5nun panel hidróxido de calcio y clorhexidina al 2%, posteriormente las placas hieren incubadas en cámara de anaerobiosis a una temperatura de 37 °C. tomándose medidas de halo inhibitorio expresado en milímetros a las 24, 48, 72 horas y 7 días. Los resultados obtenidos fueron sistematizados, luego se aplicó el Estadístico T de Student (P<0,05) indicando que el promedio del halo inhibitorio formado por la Caesalpinia espinosa fue mayor que el halo inhibitorio formado por el Hidróxido de Calcio, había diferencia estadísticamente significativa entre los datos obtenidos entre ambos grupos experimentales. En conclusión, la Caesalpinia espinosa demostró tener efecto antimicrobiano frente a la presencia de Enterococcus faecalis, formando halos de diferentes diámetros en las 4 tomas de medidas que se realizó en este estudio.
Objetivo: Evaluar la eficacia de la Caesalpinia spinosa (tara) en diferentes concentraciones sobre el Lactobacillus acidophilus. Material y métodos: Se realizó una siembra de la cepa ATCC® 4356 (Lactobacillus acidophilus), fue activada en caldo tioglicolato en la cámara de anaerobiosis al 9 % CO , donde se incubó a 37 °C 2 durante 24 horas. Luego, la preparación se realizó en placas de Agar rogosa, se esperó a que solidifique y se procedió hacer la siembra por superficie con una micropipeta. Se tomó 1 ml de la cepa reactivada en caldo tioglicolato se vertió y se esparció con la espátula de digralsky sobre la superficie del agar. Se colocó 5 sensidiscos de 5 mm en cinco puntos separados en la placa Petri, cada sensidiscos fue embebido con 30 microlitros con cada sustancia de control y extracto etanólico de Caesalpinia spinosa (tara) al 100 %, 60 %, 40 %, para cada sustancia se utilizó 5 muestras; luego se incubó las placas en la cámara de anaerobiosis al 9 % CO , 37 °C, posteriormente 2 se tomó medidas a las 24 y 48 del halo inhibitorio resultante. Se conformaron cinco grupos de estudio, los tres primeros con la Caesalpinia spinosa en sus diferentes concentraciones, el cuarto fue el gluconato de clorhexidina al 2 % y el quintocorrespondió a la Amoxicilina. Resultados: La Caesalpinia spinosa (tara) a la concentración del 100 % fue la mejor, respecto a las otras estudiadas (40 y 60 %), a las 24 y 48 horas de su exposición. El promedio de la medida del halo inhibitorio de la Caesalpinia spinosa al 100 % resultó mayor que el formado por el gluconato de clorhexidina. Se aplicó T de Student (p < 0,05) y se encontró diferencia estadísticamente significativa entre datos obtenidos para distintas sustancias. La Caesalpinia spinosa (tara) al 100 % es igual de competitiva que el gluconato de clorhexidina al 2 %, a las 24 y 48 horas; pero, es menor frente a la amoxicilina en estos dos tiempos. Conclusiones: La Caesalpinia spinosa, demostró tener efecto antibacteriano frente al Lactobacillus acidophilus, sus medidas fueron variadas y en la mayoría superiores al gluconato de clorhexidina.
