Esta investigación define la calidad de energía y sus parámetros, basándose en las normativas ARCONEL 005/18 y 004/18, EN50160, IEC 61000-4-15 e IEEE 519-2014. Bajo esta concepción se evaluó un laboratorio de automatización de industria 4.0 en la Escuela Superior Politécnica de Chimborazo. De la información obtenida se determinó que los valores de flicker de Plt en las fases B y C, excede a la norma con el 1.05% y 2,24%. El promedio de la distorsión armónica de corriente total presenta valores superiores a la norma entre el 29.61% al 216.94%. La mayor distorsión de corriente individual presenta la fase B con armónicos impares del 3 al 11, con valores entre el 46,22% al 9,14%. Se calculó un factor de potencia total de 0,83p.u. inferior a la norma. Se concluye que para garantizar la calidad de energía eléctrica se debe acatar sus normativas e incorporar filtros activos en paralelo.
Se analizó la factibilidad para la implementación de una planta fotovoltaica de 824,86 MW en el Aromo, provincia de Manabí, Ecuador. Se estudió la zona, el recurso solar, normativas, requerimientos, componentes del diseño y su presupuesto. Con el software RETScreen Expert se evaluó los parámetros financieros y ambientales del proyecto, confirmando su rentabilidad con ganancias por venta de 190,93 % a tarifa residencial o de 889,55 % si es comercializada según la regulación del CONELEC 004/11. Proyectándose un costo de generación de electricidad de 0,045 a 0,054 USD/kWh cubriendo una demanda de 894,68 GWh a 10 años. El proyecto supera 4,12 veces la capacidad mínima instalada de una planta a construirse en la zona y reduce el 35,11 % del costo generado por kWh. De implementarse sería la primera de mayor potencia a nivel nacional y la tercera de Latinoamérica.
Se presenta un segundo estudio que analiza la factibilidad de implementación de proyectos de generación con energías limpias en diferentes zonas del Ecuador. Se propone una planta fotovoltaica de 130,24 MW para abastecer la demanda energética proyectada de la provincia de Chimborazo, para 13 años. Se analizó varias zonas, el recurso solar, las normativas vigentes y los componentes del diseño. Se evaluó aspectos financieros y ambientales con el software RETScreen Expert, determinándose rentabilidad de 163,65% a 784,90% para la comercialización de la energía según la regulación del CONELEC 004/11. Se proyecta cubrir una demanda de 195,74 GWh a un costo máximo de generación de 0,063 USD/kWh, que es el 9,16% menor al estimado en proyectos similares. La propuesta es 8,52 veces la capacidad mínima instalada de los proyectos hidroeléctricos provinciales. Su implementación aportaría al desarrollo de la matriz productiva y seria la mayor planta de generación eléctrica de la región.
