En la presente investigación se evaluó la aplicación de las Tecnologías de la Información y Comunicación (TIC) en la práctica docente de la Universidad Nacional de Chimborazo (UNACH), en base a los parámetros de disponibilidad, frecuencia de uso y modo de uso, con la finalidad de proponer una alternativa de solución que contribuya a la disminución de la brecha digital. Se utilizaron los métodos analítico e inductivo, con un tipo de investigación cuantitativa y aplicada. Se inició identificando las herramientas informáticas disponibles en la institución: Moodle, Blogger y OneDrive, posteriormente se aplicó una encuesta preliminar a los docentes de la Facultad de Ingeniería, estableciendo así los factores que provocaban el uso inadecuado de las herramientas TIC en la práctica docente. Como solución se desarrolló y aplicó un plan de capacitación en el manejo integrado de TIC, utilizando la metodología de trabajo en línea PACIE (Presencia, Alcance, Capacitación, Interacción y E-learning), en donde se obtuvo como resultado mejoras en la disponibilidad, frecuencia y modo de uso de las TIC, contribuyéndose de esta manera a la disminución de la brecha digital.
Se presenta un segundo estudio que analiza la factibilidad de implementación de proyectos de generación con energías limpias en diferentes zonas del Ecuador. Se propone una planta fotovoltaica de 130,24 MW para abastecer la demanda energética proyectada de la provincia de Chimborazo, para 13 años. Se analizó varias zonas, el recurso solar, las normativas vigentes y los componentes del diseño. Se evaluó aspectos financieros y ambientales con el software RETScreen Expert, determinándose rentabilidad de 163,65% a 784,90% para la comercialización de la energía según la regulación del CONELEC 004/11. Se proyecta cubrir una demanda de 195,74 GWh a un costo máximo de generación de 0,063 USD/kWh, que es el 9,16% menor al estimado en proyectos similares. La propuesta es 8,52 veces la capacidad mínima instalada de los proyectos hidroeléctricos provinciales. Su implementación aportaría al desarrollo de la matriz productiva y seria la mayor planta de generación eléctrica de la región.
