Syntheses of disubstituted, tetramethylethanediyl-bridged titanocene derivatives (CH3)4C2(1-CsHr3-RhTiCI2' with R = t-butyl, trimethylsilyl, isopropyl, a,a-dimethylbenzyl and I-phenylcyc1ohexyl, by reductive coupling of the appropriately substituted 6,6-dimethylpentafulvenes with Mg/CCl 4 and reaction of the resulting di-Grignard compounds with TiC1 3-3THF are described along with those of several zirconium analogues. The reaction sequence in each case gives, together with the desired racemate, comparable amounts of the corresponding meso-configurated complex. The NMR data for the racemic and meso diastereomers of these compounds and crystal structures of one meso and several racemic representatives are reported.

Benzylidenepentacarbonyl complexes (CO),M[C(C,H,R-p)H](1) [M = W: R = H (a), OMe (b); M = Cr: R = H (c), OMe (d)], react with cyclopentadiene by stereospecific transfer of the benzylidene ligand to one C = C bond of the diene and coordination of the resulting endo-6-arylbicyclo[3.l.0]hex-2-ene (4) to the metal. The (CO),M fragment occupies the exo-position. Addition of bromide liberates 4 from the metal. The reaction of l a with 1,3-cyclohexadiene gives the corresponding (endo-7-phenylbicyclo[4.1.O]hept-2-ene)tungsten complex (6) and, after addition of Br-, the free bicyclic compound. The sequential reaction of 1 a with 1,2,3,4,5-pentamethylcyclopentadiene and Br-affords the endo-6-phenyl-exo-4-methyl isomer of pentamethylphenylbicyclo[3.l.0]hex-2-ene 9 with more than 85% stereoselectivity. The benzylidene transfer from 1 a to cis-and trans-pentadiene, isoprene, and Z-chloro-l,3-butadiene proceeds regiospecifically to the more electron-rich C = C bond to give (E)-and (3-phenylvinylcyclopropanes. The E / Z ratio ranges from 0.52 to 2.2. Nitrilium salts 2 add oximes 1 to form stable alkylideneaminooxy‐substituted iminium salts 4. Compounds 4 have been postulated by Meerwein as intermediates of the Beckmann rearrangement of oximes[1]. For (E)‐4c an X‐ray structural analysis is performed. Other intermediates of the Beckmann rearrangement are the N‐acylamidinium salts 5, which are produced by the reaction of nitrilium salts with amides. As models for the transformation of 5 into amides, the end products of the Beckmann rearrangement, reactions of N‐acylamidinium salts with nucleophiles, e.g. oximes, alcohols, water, amines, thiols, and benzophenone imine are studied.
