ResumenSe estudiaron dos especies de mosquito fungoso negro, Lycoriella (Lycoriella) ingenua (Dufour, 1839) y Bradysia impatiens (Johannsen, 1912) (Diptera: Sciaridae), que causan daño a plántulas de Pinus montezumae (Lamb, 1832) en viveros forestales. Estos dípteros se identificaron morfológicamente y por métodos moleculares y se citan por primera vez como plaga en viveros forestales de México. La proporción sexual para L. ingenua fue de un macho por cada 1.25 hembras; para caracterizar esta especie se midieron huevos, pupas, larvas y cápsulas cefálicas. Con los datos morfométricos de longitud de cuerpo y ancho de la cápsula cefálica de larvas y mediante el método de conglomerados jerárquicos se determinaron los estadios larvarios de la especie. Para B. impatiens por cada macho existen 2.4 hembras. En la distinción de los estadios larvarios, el mejor parámetro fue el ancho de cápsula cefálica. Ambas especies presentaron cuatro estadios larvarios. Las dos especies se criaron en laboratorio a 21 ºC ± 2 ºC. El ciclo completo de L. ingenua requirió de 30.5 días ± 3.5 días. Para B. impatiens el tiempo para concluir ciclos biológicos fue de 27.5 días ± 2.5 días. Se determinó que las larvas de ambas especies consumen la raíz de Pinus montezumae. Se identificaron los hongos asociados a larvas y adultos de ambas especies, Fusarium circinatum fue el más importante y se registra por primera vez en viveros de P. montezumae; esta especie de hongo se identificó mediante morfología y por métodos moleculares.Palabras clave: ciclo biológico, estadios larvarios, hongos asociados, mosquito fungoso negro, proporción de sexos. AbstRActLycoriella (Lycoriella) ingenua (Dufour, 1839) and Bradysia impatiens (Johannsen, 1912) (Diptera: Sciaridae) are two black fungus gnats species studied that harm Pinus montezumae (Lamb, 1832) seedlings in forestry nurseries. These dipterous were morphological and molecularly identified and are mentioned for the first time as a pest in Mexico's forestry nurseries. The proportion of sexes to Lycoriella ingenua was of one male per 1.25 females; to characterize this species eggs, pupas, larvae and cephalic capsules were measured. The morphometric data of body length and cephalic cage width of larvae through the hierarchical conglomerated method determined the larval instars of the species. For B. impatiens there are 2.4 females per male. In the definition of the larval instars, the best parameter was that of the cephalic capsule. Both species presented four larval instars. Both species were bred under lab conditions at 21 °C ± 2 °C. The whole cycle of L. ingenua required 30.5 ± 3.5 days. For B. impatiens the time to conclude biological cycles was of 27.5 ± 2.5 days. It was determined that both species of larvae consume Pinus montezumae root. The fungi associated to larvae and fungi of both species were identified. Fusarium circinatum was the most important and it is registered for the first time in nurseries of Pinus montezumae; this species was morphological and molecularly identified.

Los moscos fungosos negros, Lycoriella ingenua y Bradysia impatiens son insectos que afectan significativamente la producción de plántulas de Pinus montezumae en algunos viveros e invernaderos forestales que se ubican en el centro de México. En los meses desde la primavera hasta el otoño, las condiciones ambientales de alta humedad y temperatura son adecuadas para que la población aumente rápidamente y sea abundante en pocas semanas. Para ofrecer una alternativa de control de ellos, en el vivero forestal de Temamatla se probaron cinco insecticidas químicos: oxamil, espirotetramat, imidacloprid, carbofuran, clorpirifos, y el bioplaguicida Bacillus thuringiensis var. israelensis (BTI). Estos productos se aplicaron en tres dosis, durante cuatro meses. La eficacia de los tratamientos se evaluó en porcentaje de plantas sin daño. De los tratamientos, el imidacloprid en dosis alta y media generó una protección de 100 %. Después, oxamil y espirotetramat en dosis alta, a 96.17 % y 95.75 % de la planta tratada. En cambio, la dosis media de clorpirifos lo hizo a 95.74 %, mientras que la dosis baja de imidacloprid, a 95.29 %. Ocho tratamientos protegieron de 91.5 % a 79.43 %, pero cuatro tratamientos no fueron diferentes al control. Los resultados sugieren que no todos los productos evaluados, en sus diferentes dosis, son efectivos para el control del mosco fungoso negro. Sin embargo, algunos pueden serlo para controlarlo en plántulas de P. montezumae.

The subterranean termite, Coptotermes havilandi Holmgren, is reported from a previously undocumented sitelocated in Manzanillo, Colima, Mexico. This is the first record of that exotic species on the West Coast of NorthAmerica. Termites were found inhabiting and damaging pine logs in a fiscal warehouse at Manzanillo harbor. Theirproximity to the harbor, in addition to the lack of any other infestations in the surroundings, suggests that they wereprobably introduced as a result of maritime trade. New distribution records are also reported in Mexico City(Mexico) and the State of Pará (Brazil). This study shows that that species continues being introduced in manycountries despite the efforts of harbor quarantines.

Se reporta la asociación del descortezador exótico Scolytus schevyrewi y el barrenador ambrosial Euwallacea ca. fornicatus, en árboles de parques, jardines y camellones de la ciudad de Tijuana, Baja California, México.

ABSTRACT. Observations on the biology and distribution of Uresiphita reversalis (Lepidoptera, Crambidae), a defoliator of the native tree Calia secundiflora in México. Uresiphita reversalis (Guenée, 1854) feeding on Calia secundiflora (Ortega) Yakovlev is recorded for the first time in the state of Hidalgo, Mexico. New aspects regarding the life cycle, feeding behaviour, geographical distribution and host plant damage by U. reversalis on C. secundiflora are here presented and discussed.

Blue-stain. Mexico. Ophiostoma pulvinisporum. PCR. White pine White pine or Acalocote [Pinus chiapensis (Mart.) Andresen] is an endemic species from Mexico that has been used in commercial forest plantations. In September 2014, pine wood samples with symptoms of damage by Ips calligraphus Germar and fungal blue stain were collected in Mazolapa, Hueytamalco, Puebla. The wood contained perithecia with dark globose bases, 186-197 μm in diam., ornamented with aseptate hyphae, 70 × 1.8 μm. Perithecial necks were dark brown, 980-984 μm long, 44-50 μm wide at base, 19-24 μm wide at the apex. Ostiolar hyphae were absent and asci not observed. Ascospores were hyaline, aseptate, pillowshape, 3.8-4.3 × 1.7-2.2 μm. Small pieces of wood were surface disinfected for 1 min, rinsed in sterile distilled water, and plated onto Malt Extract Agar (MEA). A fungus was isolated whose colonies were initially light gray at 10 days but turned dark gray with age. A reference specimen (UCH-DCF303) was deposited in the herbarium of the Forest Sciences Division of the Autonomous University of Chapingo, Texcoco, Mexico. Amplification of ITS was carried out using primers ITS4 and ITS5 (White et al. 1990). The PCR product (479 bp) was sequenced and deposited in GenBank (accession No. MK382983). The obtained sequence showed 99% similarity to the ex-type sequence of Ophiostoma pulvinisporum X. D. Zhou & M. J. Wingfield, (AY546714, isolate CMW9022). Based on morphological and molecular characteristics, the fungus observed on Pinus chiapensis was identified as Ophiostoma pulvinisporum. O. pulvinisporum was described from galleries of bark beetles in Pinus pseudostrobus and P. maximinoi in México. It has also been found in P. contorta in Canada (Zhou et al. 2004). This is the first report of this fungus on Pinus chiapensis in Mexico, extending the host range of the fungus and vector.
