RESUMENEste análisis situacional de la claridad y calidad de las notas explicativas en los estados financieros bajo IFRS (Obligatory Disclosure), pretende entregar claridad acerca de la calidad de la información entregada en las notas explicativas para 4 normas de Información Contable, claves en la información financiera en los países de la región, que son la NIC 2; Notas referente a Inventarios, NIC 16; Notas referente a Propiedad Planta y Equipos, NIC 37; Notas referente a Provisiones, y NIC 38; Notas referente a Activos Intangibles. Adicionalmente, este trabajo estudia la brecha de expectativas (Expectation Gaps) que existe en la información entregada en las notas de los estados financieros para tres importantes grupos de interés de estos estados financieros; a) los auditores externos, b) los administradores de empresas y c) accionistas. El análisis se efectúo en estados financieros de 6 países de la región; Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Perú, Paraguay, y Uruguay, se pidió la opinión de profesionales de los tres grupos mencionados anteriormente y se obtuvo una respuesta de 230 opiniones profesionales de notas a los estados financieros de empresas de los 6 países antes mencionados. Las conclusiones están claras de acuerdo a la evidencia obtenida. Como se esperaba, los terceros interesados en los estados financieros y sus notas estiman que dichas notas explicativas aun no tienen la claridad ni la calidad que los auditores y administradores sostienen. ABSTRACTThis situational analysis of the clarity and quality of the explanatory notes in the financial statements under IFRS (obligatory Disclosure), aims to clarify the quality of the information provided in the explanatory notes for 4 accounting information standards. They are key to the financial information in the countries of the region, the IAS 2 Notes relate to inventories, the IAS 16 are Notes regarding Plant and Equipment Property, IAS 37 Notes are about Provisions and the IAS 38 are Notes regarding Intangible Assets. Additionally, this paper studies the expectation gaps existing in the information delivered in the notes of the financial statements for three important interest groups: a) external auditors, b) business managers and c) shareholders. The analysis was carried out of financial statements for 6 countries in the region: Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Paraguay and Uruguay. Were asked the opinion of professionals from the three groups mentioned and the response of 230 professional opinions of notes to the company's financial statements was obtained from the 6 countries. The conclusions are clear according to the evidence obtained. As expected, third parties interested in the financial statements and their notes estimate that these explanatory notes do not yet have the clarity or quality that the auditors and administrators argue. Este libro tiene por objetivo analizar y reflexionar sobre la obra de un autor latinoamericano de la contabilidad: Carlos Luis García Casella, quien desde hace cuarenta años escribe sobre teoría contable, en diálogo con otros autores emblemáticos como Richard Mattessich y Antonio Lopes de Sá. García Casella encabeza el desarrollo de la teoría contable en Argentina y su impacto en el área en Latinoamérica es altísimo. Autores del área contable de Argentina, Brasil y Colombia aportan en esta obra sus análisis y reflexiones sobre cuestiones que se vinculan con la utilización del método científico para el desarrollo de la contabilidad, ya que gran parte de la obra de García Casella se dedica a esta cuestión. Los contenidos incluidos se vinculan con la naturaleza de la contabilidad, los elementos para una teoría general de la contabilidad, los modelos contables con método científico y los segmentos de la contabilidad. El libro presenta aspectos vinculados con la teoría contable que sirven de apoyo en el área de la contabilidad a los investigadores, a los docentes -tanto para la formación de pregrado como de posgrado- y a los profesionales.
