En el presente trabajo se muestra la Alfabetización Científico y Tecnológica como estrategia para la enseñanza de asignaturas teórico - prácticas en ingeniería, a través de una variación del modelo didáctico de Mallart. Para ello, se toma como caso de estudio los cursos de Electrónica I y Conversión Electromagnética pertenecientes al plan de estudios del programa de Ingeniería Electrónica en la Universidad Santo Tomás. Las temáticas de “Transistor como amplificador” y “Motor de Inducción” son las escogidas para desarrollar la metodología en cada curso respectivamente. Para el desarrollo de cada temática se parte de una contextualización que ilustra unas nociones básicas. De ahí, se realiza un ejercicio práctico de laboratorio dónde el estudiante tiene un primer acercamiento con la tecnología en cuestión. En esta primera parte del modelo, los docentes guían al estudiante para que la experiencia inicial con la temática en cuestión no sea traumática. Para esto, cada docente diseña una práctica de laboratorio donde garantiza el funcionamiento de los dispositivos utilizados con el fin de que el estudiante genere un vínculo afectivo positivo con los mismos. Además de ello, el docente estructura la primera práctica de tal forma que la concepción y objetivos de la Alfabetización Científico y Tecnológica faciliten el aprendizaje de las nuevas temáticas para el estudiante. Con el fin de lograrlo, se prioriza la importancia de que el estudiante desarrolle la capacidad de resolver problemas relacionados a su entorno profesional y personal, con ayuda de los conceptos científicos y tecnológicos asociados con las temáticas a desarrollar en cada curso. Después de ello, el estudiante formula (con la ayuda de las preguntas orientadoras propuestas por el docente) los conceptos y principios teóricos que sustentan los resultados obtenidos en la práctica inicial. Por último, el docente formula una práctica adicional donde los estudiantes validan los conceptos deducidos en la fase teórica. Para evaluar el impacto de la estrategia se implementa un cuestionario (validado a través de dos instancias: pares académicos y expertos) que permita evidenciar las percepciones de los estudiantes respecto a este tipo de tecnologías para el aprendizaje de las nuevas temáticas.
