A completely randomized experimental design was adopted in split-plots, with four replications. At two stages of coriander growth the water use efficiency, the yield of green and dry matter, and the number of plants increased linearly with the elevation of dose of the polymer, when the smallest water depth was applied, except in the prediction of the height of plants at the first stage of planting according to quadratic model. With application of higher water depth (120%), the estimates of the appraised characteristics with significant interaction were maximized with ideal doses in the range of 6 to 11 dg kg -1 , and also the employment of the maximum dose of 16 dg kg -1 provided a fall in relation to the control.
The experimental design was completely randomized with seven treatments and four replications. The treatments consisted of seven nutrient solutions, based on the solutions for melon and cucumber [Melon: S 1 -50%, S 2 -100% and S 3 -150%; cucumber: S 4 -50%, S 5 -100% and S 6 -150%, and S 7 (mean of S 2 and S 5 )]. The nutrient solutions interfered in almost all parameters evaluated. The nutrient solutions S 2 and S 5 , corresponding recommended solutions for the crops of melon and cucumber, respectively, can be recommended for the cultivation of gherkin grown in coconut fiber substrate.
The addition of hydrogels to soil increases water availability, reduces percolation losses, leaches ions and improves soil aeration and drainage. This study aimed at evaluating the effect of five doses of the hidratassolo ® hydrogel polymer, 0, 4, 8, 12 and 16 dg kg-1 of dry soil, and two irrigation water depths, 60 and 120% of reference evapotranspiration on ion leaching. The experiment was held in the lysimeter station at the Department of Rural Technology, Federal Rural University of Pernambuco in Recife city-PE. Periodical analyses of electrical conductivity (EC), pH and concentration of leached ions were performed: calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), sodium (Na) and potassium (K), at the time of water balance (T), over the period of the coriander cultivation. A completely randomized experimental design with four replications was used in split-plots, according to the Mauchly's test of sphericity. The effect of treatments over the time reduced the concentrations of calcium and magnesium ions and total concentration of salts. Also, it increased concentration of sodium, potassium and pH in the drained solution of soil considering the two levels of irrigation within hidratassolo ® extreme levels.
Abstract:Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) bacteria that occur worldwide can cause serious infectious diseases that may lead to death. Vaccines made from Hib capsular polysaccharide (polyribosyl ribitol phosphate; 5-D-ribitol-(11)--D-ribose-3-phosphate; PRP) can prevent against these diseases. In PRP purification, the major contaminants (nucleic acids, proteins and endotoxins) are selectively removed and the classic Lowry method has been used in quality control for protein quantification, but has been shown to be inadequate for the level of this impurity found in PRP. This work aimed to select a suitable spectrophotometric method for the determination of residual protein levels in PRP samples.
